Forums - PC Discussion - So You're An RPG Maker Fan? Recommendations?

Yo. With Steam's Summer Sale, I'm been wanting to get back into the 2D top view JRPGs in the same vein as 16 bit Final Fantasy.  So it seems that there's a plethora of 2d top view RPG Maker games on Steam.  Recommendations, please?  I'm not too discriminate right now as long as it's quality.  I'm a fan of the old school JRPG titles such as Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, Suikoden, etc.  Also, dungeon crawlers such as Etrian Odyssey are cool, too.  I should have asked earlier since the sale is close coming to an end in just a matter of days.  Thanks.

Vampires Dawn. Best RPGM game I've personally played.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I'm not too familiar with these games if someone doesn't mind explaining. So do you make these games and you can put it up online for others to download your game and play them. And it's all for free (aside from buying the game itself)? If you made a game can you charge them?

Basically you buy the RPG Maker software and make your own games, it's basically an RPG engine in the style of the SNES classics etc. and you can then publish your game, either for free or commercially... the majority of games just get shared for free as fun little projects, but there's some pretty highly rated commercial games out there on Steam etc. that are worth checking out, probably one of the most well known being "To The Moon" and its sequels.

Good to know.  I'll look into To The Moon. Thanks!

FYI, I'm placing an order in tonight. I'll let everyone know what I've decided on.
