I'm going to go ahead and give the article around 0% credibility. Apart from the fact that it is poorly written, it talks about damage to the Xbox 360's cords and a replacement scheme. This was actually for the original Xbox, as evidenced by the fact the official Xbox site that your link links too talks about machines manufactured prior to October, 2003. Remember that manufacturing of Xbox 360's started only just before they launched.

A while ago there was a guy claiming that his home was burnt down by an Xbox 360 (as in an actual court claim) but Microsoft questioned that because he claimed it happened BEFORE the launch of the Xbox 360.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is the same full-of-crap piece.........
