Depends where and how crowded he kept his 360. I've had my launch 360 on for 28 hours in 1 go before and it wasnt actually that hot. If he left it though for more than 3 hours just sat there it would have turned itself off. Mine does.

you mean 360 has a power brick like lap top?? my friend's 360 is always set up in his cabinet so I ve never seen it.

I couldn't get the link to work. Anyway, naybe it wasn't the 360. I have a PC, a PS2, a Wii, a Dreamcast, a 360, a Stereo, an alarm clock, my HDTV, a DVD player, and a DirecTV reciever plugged up to two powerstrips in my entertainment room. My firefighter friend says that having so many things plugged up in one place can easily overload the outlet and cause a fire INSIDE OF THE WALL. My response: "Fuck you, buddy! My entertainment room is awesome!" The way my luck's been lately, my house will probably burn down, today. Still, if there's a fire, it may be because of my ignorance, and not my 360.
