Forums - Politics - Iranian General Killed by US Attack

No, they won't.  But that's not why they'll join the fight.  This is chess.  We can't think just one play at a time here.  Iran will retaliate.  Maybe with military, but maybe with a major cyber attack.  And then we'll retaliate with military.  It will escalate.  It is that escalation that will draw the other 2 in.  For China, it might not even be military intervention but economic.  Gut punch America's economy in the middle of a war?

It resembles a game of chess in many ways, but the pieces are more akin to those used in a game of checkers, at least until 'deposed'.

It is impossible to ascertain the true intrinsic value of each piece taken until your opponent has made their retaliatory move.

It is reactionary and played entirely in post, switching intermittently between damage and damage control.

Everyone is playing for keeps; but the game, by definition, can not have a winner.

These are my thoughts anyways.

So you are a brainwashed war loving bastard. Ok got it. As for the rest of us sane people, this is one of the worst ways to start a year, with the US trying to start yet another war. The terrorist here is the US because people all over the world and in the US are scared shitless because of US actions.

No, I'm pro future. I want the best future to happen for the most people and I'm convinced from China's actions, ideals and global control that our future will be worse if China is to win. The war has already started, it's been waging now for years but we just only see the physical effect such as this in the middle east.

Wanting a future of freedom and western ideals to continue does not make me pro war, I want nothing but global peace right now but that ain't going to happen and a fully global China is a far worse ammount of pain and death and potentially far, far longer, perhaps in the digital age it would be indefinite.

War = a pre season controlled forest fire. Global china = no more forestry control or planning.

It's not up to me or you or anyone else, it's up to these countries leaders and I know which one I'm backing and it's not China or Iran. At least the US is lead by the people, The countries, for the most part that the US is fighting don't have that. Putin has been in office for 20 years, Xi is nothing short of a dictator and so on.

Hahahaha the biggest joke of our time is the US wanting peace and you saying you want it is a good ol' joke as well. You are a conspiracy theorist or at least sound like one. In the real world, the US right now is more of a threat to world peace than any other nation on Earth.

Just a guy who doesn't want to be bored. Also

Oh boy. This is just like the "Trump is going to get us into a war with NK" all over again. Of course, it's an election year, so have to make it bigger. "REEEE, it's going to be WW3!!"

I consider it chess because it's played out by mentally exploring as many of your moves and retaliatory moves ahead of time as possible and enacting the best strategy.  In other ways, it operates like Monopoly where by many players simply win by attrition....they get tired of playing or run too low on money.

The unfortunate news for us is that Trump likely cannot play either and will operate purely on retaliation alone.

Haha the monopoly analogy if as amusing as it is horrifyingly accurate. Monopoly has never and will never be accused of circumventing a dispute. It shares this dubious honour with the Mario party series.

Political discussion can at times feel like staring into the abyss; and political argument I would liken to being the abyss and staring into one's own reflection.

A joke, however dry, never goes amiss.

I almost think that some of Rol's comments would almost be beneficial if it wasn't for the internet's lack of a dedicated sarcasm/shit talking font. Jk 😉

Idk exactly how I feel about this. It does seem the pros outweigh the cons. But I think this is an important video for people for context before they just jump on the bash Trump bandwagon. I’m not for or against Trump, but it does get really old seeing everyone automatically assume everything he does is pure evil.

I want to condemn Trump for this but then I recall that he has access to intelligence the general public does not.

Has Iran ever done anything besides uttering empty threads? I mean what are they gonna do here, invade the US? Considering the past decade it kinda feels even North Korea is a bigger threat than Iran.

They have actually they've seized oil tankers and blocked trade I remember they seized a UK military ship years back they can cause serious problems for US trade partners hurting relations between international allies, considering they've recently done joint military drills with Russia and China they are a far bigger problem than NK.

Or they could just do what they always do after threatening other countries. Nothing.

Which is certainly a possibility.  But...do you want to take that risk?  Do you want to risk the lives of your own people that Iran won't retaliate?

I'm actually not sure what "willing to take a risk" actually means here. Who's taking a risk with what? The deed is already done, now people will just have to wait what happens. I'm assuming the US and other countries already have possible counter measures in mind, so they're not risking anything by sitting around. I'm just sitting here as a mostly unaffected observer and on a scale of 1 to 10 how worried I am that this situation will have global consequences in the short term I'm sitting firmly at a 1.

Though I have said a couple of times how I feel very sorry for anyone who has to live in the US for being a playball in what some generously call politics.

Sounds pretty mild to me compared to the WW3 talking point floating around everywhere. And it extends the question to if Russia and China have done anything meaningful since the end of the Cold War. The US is constantly calling Russia the enemy and they're in an active trade war with China, so they're obviously not concerned with any major retaliation. Same with Iran. All I'm seeing is big words and chain rustling.

I've heard so many big promises of retaliation that never came, I'm WW3 fatigued at this point.

Blocking trade is not mild hence why they've never been able to fully sanction Iran and Russia has done something meaningful they annexed Crimea the only other point oil could pass through and not one military action was taken against them because everyone US included knew it's a fight they don't want while China have snapped up all the trade in Africa weakening US' trade position in the world as many countries are now opting to use trade with China to invest in themselves which is what triggered the trade war if you think it's only words you're not diving deep into politics the's more to this than conflict as retaliation.
