Forums - Gaming Discussion - Death stranding get rid of online stuff

I recently started playing Death stranding and it is just how I feared. A mess of random online stuff appearing, either making things more confusing or spoiling things. I tried to turn it off, yet even when restarting the game without being connected to the internet at all, the online post boxes, signs, ladders and other crap are still on the map. Is there a way to get rid of it or do I have to start a new game?

You must first read through 76 codecs.

I rather play it on easy mode than see gamer tags everywhere I go, it's really spoiling the game for me. I hate cluttered maps! I love the isolated setting and stuff appearing everywhere is annoying. At least have the option to hide player names and restrict the amount of crap like signs clutter.

I can't find anyway to get rid of it apart from walking to everything to delete it lol. Might as well start over :/ This went from a 9/10 to a 6/10 game fast for me.

WTF. I didn't build all those roads and ziplines for you to turn them off.. You better give me likes for those stuff.

CPU: Ryzen 7950X
GPU: MSI 4090 SUPRIM X 24G
Motherboard: MSI MEG X670E GODLIKE
RAM: CORSAIR DOMINATOR PLATINUM 32GB DDR5
SSD: Kingston FURY Renegade 4TB
Gaming Console: PLAYSTATION 5

F likes, that's the first thing that rubbed me the wrong way in the game. I still have no clue what they're for anyway. Unfortunately I accidentally pressed the big button once and immediately got a trophy for liking some crap that was in my way! I was trying to figure out how to delete it lol.

Anyway I deleted all the save data, 650 mb already, started over disconnected and now it gave me the option to keep playing offline by turning auto log in off ugh. I had already turned that off but it made no difference, my saves were already polluted. 5/10 for pissing me off more, back to 6/10 for at least allowing me to skip the cut scenes even though as far as the game is concerned I'm playing it for the first time again. I put it on easy for now until I'm back where I was at least, 10 hours in I think. It should be a lot faster while skipping the cut scenes :)

I better not see any crap appearing again! I guess I can always log in when the end game turns out to be an endless grind yet it just came on too strong, too cluttered, too immersion breaking, just a mess. Journey is still the only game that did it right. Starting Dark souls late was a mess as well spoiling the game.

Likes increase your Bridge Link level, raising that level basically increases the amount of player items that appear in your world. But the likes you receive from NPCs for finishing their deliveries increase their star rating and every time you get a star from them you get a reward, some of them offer new customization colors and others give you new tools or upgrades to existing tools.

Lol so I want to dislike stuff :) I guess I'm playing it wrong since I just drop the tools or recycle them so I can carry more delivery stuff, which is still littered around in offline mode.

I'm on my second playthrough and i can tell you this is in your head, It's nothing like darksouls, they have a limiter on what is going on in the world so everyones experience is the same but varied and it all shows up in this algorithmic way. You're in your head, lad. If you're not feeling it, put it down but I urge ya to retry it cause it is so fucking worth it.

The limiter was set way too high in that case. I'm liking it a lot better now without random player signs and post boxes along the way. There's still stuff from Igor and Nick Easton, I guess for tutorial purposes, yet otherwise the world is pristine :) They should have made it less obtrusive, not litter the fov whenever you press R1 or open the map to see a bunch of icons all over.

I was only as far as making the return trip from the wind farm, restarted halfway back as the random signs only annoyed me. I'm not quite back there yet, go to get the printer from the mule camp again before heading back to the wind farm. That should be better now without piss mushrooms with player names attached or silly signs along the way spoiling where any danger is.

Love the setting, story so far, music, sound, animations, handling the load out, balancing etc. However the online features are so far out of tune with the feelings the game conjures that it's better without. No more don't piss here signs littering my world :)
