Aside from comments from others, systems just plug into the sets. They don't have any connection to broadcast signals, so this thread has a really faulty basis. 



A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Why should it alienate sales? You know that PS3 and 360 work perfectly well with SD TVs right? The only thing that keeps Nintendo from doing it is the missing capability. Of course the next consoles will all be HD (capable).

I have seen this analog cut off point made so many times on this website.  This has nothing to do with HDTV and SDTV.  It just means people using anthena's to receive TV broadcasts will be unable to do so.  You will either have to buy a cable, satellite or freeview box to continue viewing TV programmes or buy a TV that has freeview built in (whether SDTV or HDTV).  Contrary to what you seem to think it does not mean you have to dump your SDTVs and go splash out on an HDTV.

I'm sure they'd work on older tvs too.

But if the question is will Wii2 be HD I think that's a given. But excuse me if I don't get excited about seeing Kirby in HD or Mario or even Link... Now Mario in 3d, that'd be like Wii all over again.

He's talking about the consoles not supporting sd.


Why should they not support SD anymore? Thats just a lower resolution. If games are not designed properly for SD anymore you could have problems reading text etc. But otherwise ...

 Agree, games shouldn't only focus on getting HD graphics and sacrificing gameplay.  If a game warrants SD graphics then let it have it.
