Currently sitting at 80 on Opencritic. That doesn't mean much right now though. IGN hands out high scores like candy. Gamespot is corrupt and pretty much accepts bribes. Then there's the joke newspapers of Metro and Daily Star that are almost guaranteed to hand out lower than deserved scores.

Waiting on Destructoid, Gameinformer, and Easy Allies. IMO those are three of the best review outlets.

According to Destructoid only a select few outlet got review code. Oh boy!

Looks like low to mid 80's is where it will land. Really sad that the first true console Pokemon game is going to get about the same reception as the rushed cash grabby LG games. I really wish GF would step up and give us something better, but I'm afraid as long as they keep making insane profits from the games, the quality is going to continue its decline. They are just too comfortable with the fact that they know they don't have to put a lot of effort in to make huge profits.

From what I gathered: A good game with a great core gameplay and some nice changes... but:

The story is shit
The Wild Area is not only empty, but is visually inferior to the main routes and towns, giving the game a very bad contrast between those places.
The Wild Area is a technical mess: Popping is everywhere, textures are awful and the fog is so dense you sometimes can't see past your nose.
The National Dex is gone.
Endgame is short and lame.

The difference between SW/SH and Let's Go!... is that while Let's Go! is a more compact and simple experience... almost everything it does, it does well. While SW/SH... does not.

The annual EA esque release crap has to stop with this franchise. That has been hindering the quality of each new gen game since gen 5. I don't give two craps about a Pokemon Axe or Pokemon Sword/Shield 2 or Let's Go Marill/Togepi or D/P remakes. Use that extra time and money to give us an amazing gen 9 game.

Less than 20 outlets got review copies. So we'll be waiting a few days for most reviews it seems.

81 with 17 reviews. 78-84 seems like the final range.

82 is the worst reviewed Pokémon gen (ruby/sapphire)

Why do you think that? Where is that coming from? Most of the time I find GS's ratings to be close to what the average is.

I mean you could say that about 100% of Pokemon games.

They fired editorial staff back in 2006 for not liking an advertised game enough. It was a pretty big deal at the time. Half the Gamespot staff left in protest.
