Forums - Microsoft - Rumour: GTAIV DLC on Xbox 360 will include new city!!!!!! OMFG!!!!

the dlc will be big, but not a WHOLE NEW CITY big. why would they sell their next installment as a download on one platform? that would mean only people with 360 harddrives can play the next installment of gta 4 MONTHS AFTER the original release. it makes no logical sense what so ever. no sequel is ever released that quick, and they would never gimp the sales of their next installment of gta for a 'loan'.

like i said, i think it will be big, but no where near san andreas big.

Maybe it's a smaller city... Also, new city doesn't mean new installment. The technology would still be the same, the cars would probably be mostly the same ones, as well as the characters, style, etc.

For some time, I thought that Microsoft probably used too much money on this DLC, but right now I'm thinking there's a good probability that this content will be worth their millions.

The 50 million was a loan, not a gift for exclusive content. And the loan got them some EEC, but they wouldn't screw Sony over some money, Sony was the only system willing to give GTA III a chance, when Nintendo and MS didn't want to touch it. If you all think back, you can remember how no one wanted the game on the system beside Sony. I don't think that R* and TT would do that to the company that helped them.
Just like to point out, If you were the head of a company and were very close to the edge finacially would you A) say no to a company to try to stay faithful to another with at the time alot less hardware? Or B) be grateful your arse was being saved and take the money for in return whatever they wanted.

I just find it so weird.

Take-Two has no loyalty.

I wouldn't say no loyalty. But when your back is against the wall you need to take all the help you can get.

What's more important? Staying alive or being loyal?

Most people don't have that kind of loyalty, let alone companies which are by in large built to be ammoral and to just make the most money they can.

I understand business.

But I also understand that GTA wouldn't have been as huge as if it was, if the game never came out. And with no other console manufacturer looking to take this game on, except for Sony, you'd think that they'd have some sort of loyalty to them, for helping make GTA as big of a game as it is today. But I digress. This is the business world. Money talks, and favors are quickly forgotten. It's sad though, I thought that TT had a soul.

Don't they have like two or three exclusive games in development for the PS3 that were started back when their was no reason and the PS3 was looking practically dead in all regions?

Even if you are looking at it in a loyalty sense. Loyalty to your workers is more important then loyalty to your buisness partners.

I bet before they agreed on in Take 2 went to Sony to see if they'd match the offer.

Though as for that soul thing... I guess you didn't read about all the alterior motives for Take 2 not selling out to EA.  In otherwords the head of the board just wants to fatten his wallet via stock options.

They have L.A. Noire, but that's as good as dead, no new info on that in forever.  And I thnk that's about it.

I think L.A. Noire was in development back when everyone thought that PS3 was going to be the console to beat this generation.

Uhh... no?

Risk their entire game business? Guess you forget about the PS1, PS2, and PSP. And even if they did, has it worked out? Uhh... yeah. They won the format war, and the PS3 is selling much healthier since then.

The only people who believe sony 'risked their gaming business for Blu-Ray' are people who fail to see that there was no risk there, simply an opportunity that presented itself, and worked out for the better of the company as a whole.

Well we disagree then. Not that the PS3 will thrive. It will. However if HD had won, things might have turned out a lot less rosy. After losing 2/3 of all money the PS brand had made from all time, they got the BR.victory and turned the PS3 brand around. In that time they also killed off B/C, and dethroned themselves as the undisputed kings of the gaming world. That my friend is risk. It all worked out, but they did risk the gaming division. In your own words, you said they saw an opportunity. So you made my arguement. They took a risk in the name of business. So did M$.it's all business.

BAM! There it is!

I coudla swore there was a big thing about how they had 2 unannouced Sony exclusives... or it was 1 and they were counting L.A. Noire?
Maybe L.A. Noire has just been on hold though, do to the cash flow problems, if they got significant work done on it I wouldn't be surprised if they started up work again.  Hopefully so.... that game sounded awesome.

They said two, but that was a rumor I believe, and I think that L.A. Noire may have counted as one of them.

But I do hope that the game lives on, it seems so full of win.

a new city = a new gta. it happens on evey single gta game. all the gta's used the same engine on the ps2 anyway. i honestly think it will be a massive mission pack. nothing more. but if it is a new city (which i strongly doubt), then i may have to pick up the 360 version when the content is released.

there is no logical evidence that the dlc will be a new city. otherwise it would have been advertised as a map pack, not episodic content.

wrong; this just is obviously a rumor. The idiotic fanboy thing to assume is that the DLC will be as big as Vice City or San Andreas..... WRONG.

I am not saying the DLC won't be part of New Jersey or something, but Vice City and San Andreas were entirely new games that improved on everything from graphics to content.

This thread is useless.

R* said the new stuff will be 10hours each, they said GTA4 would be 80hours, based on that fact alone we can tell just how small the DLC will be, there is no massive added map, if there is any new land mass it will be small, kinda like the center island in GTA:VC. Maybe some new cars, weapons or heli's to go with the new missions or something like that aswell.
Um LINK?
