And you've paid enought taxes already to pay for your treatments, have you? Surely you should stay till you've finished? And what happened if your parents couldn't afford health insurance? Or good enough cover? Would they have told a sob story as well in the hope someone would bail them out? And health insurance is subsidiced by others as well. In your selfish world we should all pay for the exact amount of health services we use |
No, but as you seem so keen on socialised medicine I'm sure you think it's fantastic that you have to fund everyone else's treatment even when you've never met them and have nothing to do with them. I don't believe anyone else should have been forced to pay for my treatment but that's the way it works in this wonderful country. You should be celebrating. In countries without socialised medicine there are charities which bail out children whose parents didn't bother to buy insurance. And if no one is willing to then that's just tough luck. If people dying because of lack of medical care upsets you so much I suggest you train as a doctor and take the next plane out to Africa and spend your life's savings giving people free health care.
I don't think you understand how insurance works. Insurance means that you don't pay the exact amount of the health services you use. By taking out insurance you are betting that you will get ill and that your treatment will cost more than you pay in insurance. If that wasn't the case no one would bother buying insurance because they'd be better off putting money in the bank and keeping it in case they got ill. As it works out some people end up paying more and some pay less than the actual cost of treatment, that's how any type of insurance works.
