Many people on forums and video games experts use this statement. I wonder if anyone believes this statement?

Regardless, no I don't believe this. The 360's release is the start of the gen.

The 7th gen started with the DS. Duh. It might as well have ended with the DS too.

Sony does. Also, the Wii isn't part of this generation. It only competes against the PS2, which is maintaining a lead over it's rival from Nintendo of almost 100 million consoles. Sony has graciously allowed the 360 to be named as being a member of the PS3's generation of gaming, but that was just generosity on Sony's part as the 360 is massively underpowered compared to the delaystation.

The only reason the 360 is ahead of the PS3 is because of people who got Rrod buying new consoles. Microsoft doesn't actually replace/repair them even though they all have a three year warranty, thats just a media conspiracy.

That's funny. I bought a Wii at the expense of buying a 360 or a PS3. They were in direct competition for the dollars out of my wallet. What the hell are you talking about?

It would make sense for Sony to continue with both the PS2 and PS3 consoles on the market until the PS4 is launched. PS2 V's Wii.   PS3 V's XBox 360.
