Guys, why should Sony publish a 2009 release list yet? They have published a big release list for this year. Do you really think that's it? There are big things to come. Heavy Rain, Gran Turismo ... (to say just a few, announced)
There will be many games, and many of them will be exclusive. So just wait and see. Looking forward for a release list for 2009 at the end of the year.
Wii is for casuals - just like ds, normal games ussualy don`t sell on such systems.
Of`course, after FFXIII, GT5, WKS, MGS4, KH3, SO4, FFXIIIv, Tekken6, GoW3, Wardevil, 8 days, Team Ico game, Getaway 3, Uncharted 2, HS2, New Jack, Ressistance 2, KZ2, Naruto PS3, Afrika, LBP, Heavy Rain there will be even more GREAT games.
Moreover, Sony has 1st and 2nd party developers >>> then M$+Nintendo.

2009.04.30 - PS3 will OUTSELL x360 atleast by the middle of 2010. Japan+Europe > NA.
Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.
1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

Sony has huge development resources on a global scale , we haven't even seen half of what Sony's capable of producing in terms of first party exclusives.
08 wil be good , 09 will be great and '10 will be godly.
Maybe wait another 5 years for their sequels because they are the only franchises that Sony have going for them.

Which devs are jumping ship please? Only Monster Hunter comes to mind. The third-party lineup for the Wii is unchanged far behind PS3/360. I think its pretty astonishing how scarce even the pledged third-party support for the Wii is, considering it is currently outselling PS3 and 360 combined.

Other games will be announced? God of War3, Heavy Rain, Team Ico's game ...
The good thing for the PS3 (and the 360) is that the combined PS3/360 userbase is bigger and generating much more revenue for third-party developers than the Wii. So PC/PS3/360 multiplatform games will be for the time being by far more important than PS2/Wii games.

Those 3 are currently by far the biggest announced titles, when they have been released new titles will have been announced. My guess is a Dragon Quest game, a Kingdom Hearts game and probably a PS3 console exclusive GTA V as the next big three after those are released.
I think Sony's experiments with new franchises worked pretty well overall, Resistance: Fall of Man, Motorstorm and Uncharted: Drake's Fortune are successful. The sequel Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction and the new Heavenly Sword performed well enough. Sales wise Lair and Folklore were dissapointments, deserved to perform a little better.
Some yet unreleased exclusive games we know about for 2008/2009 release next to the big three: The Getaway 3, God of War 3, new Twisted Metal, new Jak & Daxter and/or Uncharted 2, new Team Ico game, new Ape Escape, new SOCOM, Killzone 2, Resistance 2, Motorstorm 2, new Tekken, etc.
I think antipation for such exclusive games will eventually push most PS2 fans to upgrade towards the PS3, this with pricedrops, slimline model as well as the big multi-platform game releases such as GTA IV, Resident Evil 5, new Star Wars, new Max Payne, new Alone in the Dark, new Tomb Raider, etc.
New efforts may bring in new people, new services like Home and PlayTV, new exclusive games like LittleBigPlanet, Eight Days, Heavy Rain, Infamous, White Knight Story, Afrika, Eyedentify, Haze, Wardevil, etc.
There's just so much coming we know about, I am certain there will be some surprises like Uncharted, Resistance, Motorstorm, etc were. IMO based on what we know the future is looking very healthy for the PS3.
Right, I can ask the same about what happens for the WII as soon as Animal Crossing, Tales of Symphonia 2, WII Fit, etc.etc.etc. have been released... I'm no fortune teller so how the heck should I know 
@Mike B Dragon Quest IX will be released on the DS, unfortunate, in case you've forgotten and don't expect for another 3 years at least another DQ release.
