Now Contra was as tough as it gets. the difficulty(3 lives included) made playing it borderline masochism but it was damn addictive(the "maybe i can do it the next time" type)

now how many of you(after the game had bitch-slapped your ego)turned to a friend /sibling/complete stranger(????) to team up so that you can just see whats in the next stage?(elder bro for me). what ensues are classic male bonding statements like "ive got your back", "ill take the right side guys,you take the left" or the valiant "take one life from me".

hope jack thompson realises games always knew family-values and friends are important.

Contra is awesome but I can't say I have stronger bonds to anyone because of it.

I haven't played that version of contra, but I felt the exact same way when I played resistance in co-op splitscreen. ^_^

My brother made me loose my lives on that vertical scrolling waterfall stage. When he wasn't doing that, he was stealing my extra lives. Now we haven't talked in months. I blame Contra.

I remember me & my brothers playing that when I was like 2, and it was a sight to behold. That game was the part of my childhood I'll never forget and your post was spot on. Then, years later it was the WWF Attitude Era and Ocarina of Time..........Flawless

 i had a lot of friends who said they aced Contra solo, without the K-code
