Fable 2 will compete, especially in terms of the environments. Banjo Kazooie and in my opinion SSBB will both compete due to the brilliant art direction of the latter and what I anticipate will be the brilliant art direction of the former. What I'm worried about is the fact that at least one franchise on your list has a history of severely dodgy gameplay, which is far worse than poor graphics.

Wow thats blatant stealth trolling. I hope you are not bagging my top choice on my list. I said best graphics game for this year. Anyway Gears of War 2 fits the description of a game that may have great graphics but have questionable gameplay.

Lol, ok. Your more than welcome to voice that opinion.

I know you were suggesting Kill Zone 2. But average scores of around 80% for the original Kill Zone games is definitely not a failure.

No it wouldn't be.  But when you realize that the actual average was between 70-74% for a game that was meant to be a Halo killer, based primarily on gameplay faults......

In any case, I'm not going to specify which game I was talking about.  There are some very over-sensitive people in this thread, all I'd do is compell them to get their flamethrowers out.

No question, GT5p. When your looking at a game, and at times you think it's real, you have won.

MGS4 and Gears 2 are going to look great, but you will never mistake them for reality, and when you take an "art direction", it's a lot easier then mimicking reality.

The only other game I would say would even come close, would be Afrika, if it ever comes out.

GT 5 P has two disadvantages compared to the games on my list: 1. It is an extended demo game and 2. The best graphics games always get released later in the year. When you are playing MGS 4, Resistance 2, Kill Zone 2, etc you will say GT 5 Prologue what was that?

lol, I will still be playing GT5p after all those games have been completed by me (unless GRID keeps me from playing it).

Ok I guess you do not care much about shooters and you are huge fan of GT and racing games? So I guess GT 5 Prologue would be your pick.

Having now played (since I own it) SSBB, there's no chance of it winning any sort of graphics awards. In fact, I meant to go back to this topic in the Nintendo forum because of that long thread complaining that IGN gave it an 8.5 or something for graphics (when compared to other Wii games). When you pause the game and zoom in it makes the character models stand out but from far away when you are fighting you don't see much of that. Also, the backgrounds are pretty bad to be honest. With that out of the way...this isn't about gameplay, so I agree that it's flame bait no matter which title it references. It's at least already off-topic. Fable 2, unless it significantly changes, won't win any awards in this category, either.

Like I said in another post, the character models in Fable 2 are a little iffy at this point.  But have you watched the GDC videos?  The environments look as good or better than any console game out yet.  It all looks like it is a living, breathing world.

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

first I have a couple question....

does KZ2 resistance2 and MGS 4 have the possibility to destroy the environement ????

is star wars force unleashed announced for 2008 ???

if the first question is no and second yes

my top 3

is

FALLOUT 3 (because the gameplay of the game can allow to crank up the graphics with less frame rate pb and other problem that FPS are hungry for)

GoW2

and finaly

SWFU if it's better than mass effect it could be a good contender

I don't put GT5 because it's a racing game... and hard to compare to the other games... but it does have awesome graphics...

if my question are not answered no and yes

than

fallout 3

then

GoW2 KZ2 R2

MGS 4
