Forums - Gaming - SS of choice: Super Metroid or Symphony Of The Night?

These are THE two side scroller action games and easily comparable due to various overlapping gameplay features and extreme replayability.

both cornerstones of the bygone 2-d era and still considered amongst the greatest games ever made.

so just say which one you like better and how it beats the other for you

to get things going ill start

And ill have to say super metroid, cause its easily my"take to a deserted island" game

played through it numerous times and will keep doing it. plus i feel SOTN borrows stuff from this one

a true classic if there is one

Metroid Fusion. :)

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

SOTN is just amazing....SM though good not on the same level. Though i prefer swords over guns so that might be pushing me one way over the other.

Why are we comparing a SNES game to a PSX game?

Also they're not side-scrollers.  Contra games are typically side-scrollers for reference.

The question wasn't "what's better," but "which do you like better." Maybe you should try reading the OP before posting, broseph.

Help! I'm stuck in a forum signature!

Metroid Fusion > Super Metroid
Metroid is pretty much my favorite series but...
Symphony of the Night is unparalelled. Not just by other sidescrollers. From a purely gameplay perspective (ignoring story/characterization/etc, focusing on graphics/gameplay/audio), it might just be the greatest game ever

Crusty VGchartz old timer who sporadically returns & posts. Let's debate nebulous shit and expand our perpectives. Or whatever.

Super Metroid seems like a pretty good game! Id have to go with that one!

Guitar Hero 3/ Smash Hits

Super Metroid, SoTN is good but Metroid is unstoppable. best 2d game ever imo.
