Couple things.
First, 14-16... not that big a deal. Though, I doubt many 14-year-olds know how to kiss properly, so yeah, it probably looks disgusting. ;)
Second, having a girlfriend does not mean that you need to completely give up your life or spend all your money on her, especially at that age. If your girlfriend doesn't want to be with you anymore because you aren't spending every minute of every day with her, then so be it. You're young, you'll both get over it. I'm not saying you need to treat girls like crap, but don't let them run your life either. Do the things you want to do.
Third, I've found that "getting a girlfriend" has never been a goal for me. "Getting ____ to be my girlfiend" is usually how it works. :P As in, you're not looking for one, but you meet a girl and find out you like her, and suddenly your priorities rapidly change. When that happens, you won't need to ask "should I or shouldn't I", you'll know the answer. Have fun. :)
Oh yeah, fourth: It doesn't matter if she has a boyfriend. He'll get over it, too. All my girlfriends' ex-boyfriends did. ;)
