Forums - Gaming Discussion - Rumor: Next Assassin’s Creed to Launch in 2019 and be Set in Greece

"It appears the next major installment in the popular franchise will be no different, as we have started to intercept the first rumors about it from several sources linked to Ubisoft. According to these rumors, the next game in the series is heading to ancient Greece."

"The setting of Greece would chime with other murmurs I had heard from earlier on in the development of Assassin’s Creed Origins (previously codenamed Empire). In 2015, there had been suggestions from Ubisoft sources that Greece might appear in the game, but that Egypt would be the focus. Later, these same sources began to report that Greece would instead be saved for the game that would follow Origins."

"The next Assassin’s Creed is currently scheduled for release in fall 2019. Our sources indicate that the game entered full production around the start of 2017 at Ubisoft, preceding the launch of Origins. It’s said to be in development for Xbox One, PS4 and PC."

"On the other hand, we have yet to hear anything about a Nintendo Switch version. While this doesn’t rule out the possibility of one completely, the vast scope that the game is said to be tackling might prevent Ubisoft from trying to port it to Nintendo’s less powerful hybrid machine."

Shame on the no switch version but it will be interesting to see what they plan to do with Greece. I kind of wish they's go away from a desert environment with this game, but I can live with it.

So, will it be a direct sequel? With the Roman Empire but in Greece instead of Egypt?

I'm not buying it.

a. It's, they have shaky sources at best. I saw Zhuge locked the ResetEra thread on this leak stating that is unreliable.

b. There are have been alot of hints at an AC China or AC Japan game over the years, from the Samurai Armor with the Assassin's emblem on it in Rainbow Six Siege, to the artwork in the AC Unity collector's edition artbook of an Asian temple (alongside main series settings), to the recent Assassin's Creed Dynasty art leak just a few months back.

If this rumor, and the original Kotaku rumor from 2016 stating that Bayek would have a trilogy of games, are correct, that would mean the soonest they could release an AC Asia game would be 2023 (2 year gap between AC Games now), so I see no reason why there would be teases for an AC Asia game as far back as 2014 if one won't release until 2023.

If this is true i wonder if it is a direct sequel to Origin were you play as Aya

Well, if thats true, I wont be happy.

Origins was a nice shake-up for the franchise. It was a completely different setting that had never been done before in an AC game.

Greece is too similar to Rome/Constantinople, two locations that have already been done.

I was hoping for something different like feudal Japan. Oh well.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

This is very good news. I've been hoping for an Assassin's Creed: Greece for a very long time. It's the perfect setting to really push the First Civilization plot points and move the story forward tremendously rather than stringing it along.

As for the main character I am hoping for a female protagonist being the daughter of Atlas. Elektra or if they really want to go tragic, Atlas's wife Pleione AKA the hidden one. Zeus plucked them into the sky. All of the seven sisters are named after birds and fits the themes of Assassin's Creed as well.

Thematically Greece is the perfect fit for Assassin's Creed far more than most of the recent entries have been. As for why it's taken so long for us to get a game set in Greece, perhaps it was planned to be used as at a later date with the First Civ and the Greek Gods. Something that is now being pushed a little harder. I'm curious to see where this goes. I have much higher expectations for this entry should this rumor be true.

An Aztec assassins creed would be cool.

Ancient Greece is all about Greece has going for it atm so it will be good to see.
