Forums - General - All black schools are now official in Toronto

this was announced since march, but i keep forgetting to post it.

anyways YES THERE ARE BLACK PEOPLE IN TORONTO CANADA. THERE ARE BLACK CANADIANS. most of them live in the greater toronto area and are immigrants of descendetns of immigrants mostly from the west indies.

anyways, black people here are like most black americans: they like rap, etc have similar cultures. i will make this gernalization because im black and see it erverday.

there are going to be 4 black schools in toronto starting this september. this will supoosedly lower teh drop out rate of yung black canadians.

this could work and it could pHaIl.

it could work because its an all black school, students will be associating with their own people, and leraning about their culture etc etc. but how long will that last?

it could bomb because their is a high risk of violence and black students dotn seem to care about school ANYWAYS. my school in brampton has about 2500 students in it, most of which i swear are black.

the black kids seem to cause the most trouble even when they are with asians, indians and white kids (we dont have much south americans in canada)  so what will they do in an all black school? when i go to the washroom, the kids skipping are all black. ALL the fights this year were between black kids. black kids are the ones that hang otu after school and cause trouble.

im not talking about all black kids, but the gangsta 50 cent wannbe ones. it seems that most black kids these days are like that. they give black people like me who dont like that shit and actually give a fuck abotu school a bad rep. im sorry, but i have to generalize my race on this one its true.

these schools seems to be a good idea, but how long can they last b4 it ruins its rep even more? it will most likely keep black students in school, but will they give a fuck about school? will their grades improve? if you think what im generalizaing my race on is false, then go otuside and see for yourself, and research school statistics among black americans/canadians.

sorry i cant find the news srouce. but it was on channel 7 news and it was a big controversy.

All of this stuff about "black culture " in your post is ridiculous. Black people only act like this because they "have to".

When children are growing up, the look at the world around them, and this shapes their personality. Nowadays, most parents sit their kids in front of the TV. On this TV is where they learn of the black stereotype. They see black men rapping on the TV, and all the crappy black stereotypes on the TV programmes and movies.

When children first start school, they mix with the people they most feel comfortable with, and if they are of an ethnic minority, they will try to befriend anyone else of the same ethnicity in the class. These people will probably also have the embedding of the black stereotype already in their persona.

In America black kids are often born into deprived areas, and they soon learn that crime is an every day part of life. They see that the richest people in their areas are the people who sell the drugs, and who run protestution services. The kids will start to believe, at a very young age, that things like education don't matter to them because if they want to be successful and lead a "good" life in their area, then they're gonna have to get "street wise", and learn to shoot a gun real fast.

Segregation and the media is what is to blame for the "black attitude". I feel that these schools will just add to the segregation.

There was a huge debate leading up to the decision to try out black centric schools in Toronto. It should be noted that the driving force for such a school has been activists and educators in the black community. This isn't about segregation, it's about targeting a specific group that has been left behind by our education system. Black students in Ontario have a shockingly higher drop out rate and the current system is leaving them behind.

Acknowledging the potential problems and negative perceptions. I'm supportive of at least trying the idea to see if it might work.
