Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

ok lets clear things up. This is not a hardware failure

Its caused by idiots who have screw with the firmware updates

end of story

How is it possible to screw with the firmware updates? Isn't it like "would you like to update your firmware?", "yes please.", "thank you very much, it's updated now".

From starcraft's third link:

"Indeed, some users have experienced the error after mistakenly installing firmware meant for a region other than their own."

Is the console silly enough to offer firmware updates from other regions?

Final conclusion: Its a silly console and not idiot users

lol, did you even research what the error code you are reffering to does? it has NOTHING to do with blu-ray (seeing as you can still watch blu-ray movies even with this error), it's a firmware bug on the ps3. what the hell does the blu-ray being ring shaped have to do with it? this error doesn't even involve the "death" of anything either. you're trying way too hard.

One more time for the bozos.....

makes no sense in responding to you when you spin everything that you say regarding ps3 and/or 360.

Funny, I could have sworn that Blu-Ray's were the same shape as CD's and DVD's. You know, ring-shaped?

I must have been thinking of some other next-gen video format, like HD DVD. Wait........

So I take it you didn't read any of the comments on the links, right?

From the first link comments section:

Pete: "s.for the last week i have occasionally been receiving an error code 80010514 when i try and play any blu-ray discs on sunday it finally decied to stop playing them all together. this includes games and movies. After this error code the console will not recognise any blu-ray disc, the console will however still read dvd’s. just what i want on my hdtv standard definition."

He does go on to say that he had a good experience with Sony customer service getting a replacement console, though. :)

starcraft: "I and every PS3 fanboy alive are waiting for Versus more than FFXIII.
Me since the games were revealed, the fanboys since E3."

Skeeuk: "playstation 3 is the ultimate in gaming acceleration"

The 3rd article also mention it could be a HDD problem. If there is one hardware problem I have the most with my PC it is HDD failure. In fact I having problem with my main HDD on my PC now. Some reason at times it's not saving files correctly which in turn screws up windows so I have to reboot. I now have to save everything on my secondary HDD to avoid this.

What did I say that had anything to do with the 360 or the PS3 in that post?

I said that before you attack the OP in ANY thread, you should at least glance at the links they provided.  Clearly, you did no such thing.

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

No, people download firmwares from Japan or other regions becausae they may come out a few hours earlier, or a few days or weeks earlier.  I'm not keen on PS3 fw updates, but with PSP, some updates come out a fee hours-days later, and some people don't have patience.  And it tells you not to update from other regions before you accept their policy but do some idiots listen?  no.

I hope that we can call this the 'boosolit'!  That would be awesome.  Then I would be an internet legend.

Has anyone thought that this could be the work of 'T3H CELL!'?  I mean, it is a living breathing organism.  It could throw this error code on your screen so you send it back to sony, and all the cell's can regroup and make a super PS3 to take over the world!

There's multiple ways to obtain and install firmware for those without highspeed internet access at home.
