Forums - Gaming - Does anyone here still play Starcraft?

I'm down to play SC with some VGC homies any time. I'm porbalby rusty as shit right now, but the game is so perfect it's even fun to lose. We should start a VGC league or something.

Back in the day I had a clan with about 6 or 7 of my friends and one random stranger who wanted to join. We added [Newbie] to all our names, and our names were like:

AllyUp[Newbie]
NoRush20Min[Newbie]

and uhh... I forget the rest.

I still play pretty regularly but for the most part I play Use Map Settings.

I play Risk most often, I'm addicted to it.

i dunno. I could be [VGC] That Guy

Anyone know how to make a league? It requires a website and password and all that ish

Starcraft a 10 year old game. Is it worth spending time playing it if you have never played it before? Well any PC could run this game but the graphics in the game would look really outdated compared to games released in the past few years in particular.
BTW: Will Starcraft 2 due out in December 2008, take the game to a new level in regards to game play and graphics?

Sure it's worth playing. I'm not exactly a fan of Starcraft, or Blizzard for that matter, but there's a reason people still play the game - and I don't know any other RTS that has driven a nation mad like SC (see South Korea).

Then again, I doubt Starcraft 2 will do anything revolutionary to the game since they might alienate their professional playerbase, so you should play that at least, since StarCraft 2 won't be as likely to make your next-gen eyes bleed.

You don't think it will do anything revolutionary to the game? Really? 5 years in development says otherwise. I suggest you go and watch the tech trailers for starcraft 2...RTS's will never be the same.

I can right now pick it up for 1/6 of a new game (you don't get games cheaper than that in Norway), should I buy it?

HELL YES.  It has a great single player campaign, well 3 of them actually, and they're all very different, and tell the stories from different angles in a great way.  And then you can play online forever on Blizzard's assload of great professional maps, or make your own, or play really weird ones that the wackos make.

I play brood wars fairly often. Normally play with other people here. I am not as good as I used to be, but I think I am still a decent player... Never really played on battlenet, so not sure how I would rank globally. We generally play local udp or on a private server...

I remember going in "PC playrooms"(basements or some other room filled with LAN connected PC's) because we had crappy internet at the time. I would meet with 5 friends, drink a few beers, and then go and play some good, old 3vs3 Starcraft in those playrooms. Those were some fun times.

Later when i got DSL, i've generally avoided b.net, but one of the 5 friends got hooked on it and started to seriously (fanatically) play the game.

.

Me and some friends will still play a LAN game every now and then, but I haven't been on battle.net in ages.

I still play! I had stopped for about a year but I've started up again after regaining interest from StarCraft II! I also play WarCraft 3 frequently. StarCraft is the best though!
