I've gotten the Starcraft bug as of late and I tried to play on b.net. Unfortunately, b.net really sucks (at least the users suck) because most of the games I see are 3 v 3 NR 15 min FaStEsT MaP EvAR. with some stupid unlimited money map.

Those are like garbage games and it seems I can't find a game that's just like a standard  1 on 1 or 2 on 2 on a regular map.

Any thoughts?  

I've never played Starcraft on-line. Actually, I have only recently played Starcraft for the first time when a friend lent the game to me about two years ago. I played through the campaign and through the expansion pack also. Fun game even w/o on-line.

If you can't get your fix with some decent players online, play through the campaign again.

never heard of it before

It seems like most people have moved on from Starcraft. I used to play it a lot with my friends, but I don't think we've played in almost 2 years. Although I think one of my friends tried playing a couple games last year, and had said something to the same effect. Too many BGH, $$ maps, NR time limits, etc.

But, we are all excited for Starcraft 2, and all of us will probably be picking it up when it gets released.

Btw, fagarcia75, if you never played multiplayer, it's like a completely different game. I would recommend trying multiplayer, but it seems like the only people left playing are the crappy people :-/.

I think I would get my rear end kicked pretty bad in multiplayer.  I am way too conservative, and not aggresive enough.  I know a few people who still like and play the game; perhaps one day we can do an old school LAN party and play some multiplayer that way.

Brood war, yes. I usually only play 2v2 with a friend of mine here though; we'll find a time when we have a couple hours free, and just chill creating 2v2 games all night. It can be fun, but usually we either get creamed or win too easily. Very rarely do we have a 'good' matchup... oh well, whatcha gonna do? 2v6 compstomps got too easy a looooooong time ago.

I certainly would like to get back to it in anticipation of Starcraft 2. Does anyone know whether this will work on Windows XP and if not, how to get it to work?

I get the bug about once a year and play for a few weeks straight. It never fails. I never play NR or clutter or any of that crap. I only play regular Blizzard maps, except for BGH.
