so you're real complaint isn't about sony/bluray, but hd movies in general?
Meh, kinda agree. I have no interest in upgrading anytime soon. DVD's look great as is and I can wait until I don't have to pay an extra fee for cable/sat hd channels.

I think the money is going to start going to download and in 6-9 years will be bigger then discs. But sony should have a little run with blu-ray. And just ignore Username2334 he gets a little edgy sometimes. |

I don't care, but if i did, I would want the cheaper format to win.
And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... A little off topic, but to most folks on here that say that DD's are hamperd by quality issues due to limited bandwith thats about to be rectified this summer. Now i'm not saying it will be available to everyone and their neighbour but its a step closer to the goal. Its called "The Grid" google it, its said to be x10,000 faster than todays BB connection. NICE
what would be wonderful

Blu Ray is better than downloads for 2 reasons, 1 is special features, Blu Ray has them Downloads dont, 2 is downloads are rent only, which is crap, i want to be able to watch my films over and over again, not once, certainly not if im paying for it.
While I think your intentions are misguided and biased, I do agree on one thing. HD is unneccesary. Yeah, it's pretty intense to watch a movie in HD, but there's so many more important things in live. And more amazing. Like this crazy thing called real life.
Crusty VGchartz old timer who sporadically returns & posts. Let's debate nebulous shit and expand our perpectives. Or whatever.
All I can say is I am french and I have been living in the US for 7 years.
I have a PS3 but only had bought 2 blue rays so far.
Last month my parents came from France to spend 2 weeks with me.
I wanted to watch 'pirates of the caraibs at worlds end' with them as they had never seen it.
I picked my DVD ( I have over 300 DVDs), checked the back, sadly it only had english soundtrack and subtitles.
I have no clue why but I figured I should check the Blue Ray on Amazon.
I did and lo behold it had english, spanish and french soundtrack and subtitles.
The neighbour is a coworker and I knew he had the blue ray version so I went to see it and borrowed it and we watched the movie in french.
Since then I have checked most of the movies released by Disney this last year, the DVD don't have french, the Blue Ray do ( Ratatouille for example).
There's more to Blue Ray than HD....
PS : And I have a 1080p TV so I really see the difference with DVDs...

The same way as having a big pickup trucks is for most car owners or having a luxurary car yet people still buy those...
I fail to see what you are bringing to the debate...
