#14 I played this game on the PS3, and it came bundled with several expensive controllers.

Guitar Hero World Tour? I don't know, wild guess.

No, Oblivion doesn't have some of the things I mentioned.

This game was another Xbox exclusive (other then PC) and the series was yet again a great loss in the exclusive department for future Xbox's.

Gotta be Morrowind then right?

I never really played that, bought in a Steam sale, but it's just so old now that I can't really get in to it. Kinda disappointing that Bethesda haven't done remasters/remakes for some of their older Elder Scrolls games. I'd love to play through them all with modern graphics.

Yes it is. The only old thing to me is the loading screens and some of the combat, otherwise it is just a superior Oblivion :P.

For your 18 I am going to guess Far Cry 4.

GoldenEye 007

  • Nintendo 64
  • 1997
  • First-person Shooter
  • Rare

The highest placed first-person shooter on the list is placed this high for a reason. 'GoldenEye 007' was of course groundbreaking and it is without a doubt the shooter which I had the most fun with. Sure, time took it's toll on this game, but when judging a personal list of "Greatest Games of All-time", the 'fun-factor' is a big piece of the pie. Usually, games based on movies are terrible, but among them, there's at least one that shines high.

The game consists of a list of levels each with a couple of objectives following the events of the movie, but taking liberties where it helps the gameplay and pacing. The development team took many liberties, and clearly had fun in their process of makong this game. They even modeled the faces of the enemies after themselves! The single-player takes plenty of time to complete, but the game also includes an amazing multiplayer mode. This influential mode puts players against each other in a death match in levels based on both GoldenEye as well as other Bond movies.

For the single-player, the game included the public secret of the cheat codes. Unlike regular cheat codes, most of these were of little real help to the player, but they were fun additions instead like having every character having a big head and long ape-like arms like Donkey Kong or every weapon shooting paintballs. My parents used to make me use the paintball cheat, because they thought the reddish stains supposed to be blood were apparently too much to see for my young self. But I already played Wolfenstein!

After a great trailer, there was some disappointment among fans when this game released, and a certain forest appeared to be cut.

Twilight Princess?

You're fast. Twilight Princess is correct.

Kinda funny your Twilight Princess is in the same spot as my Wind Waker.

(just checked to see if maybe the opposite was also true, but was disappointed)

Yeah Wind Waker isn't on my list. A Link to the Past is my lowest Zelda game on this list, and I'd have Skyward Sword, A Link Between Worlds and the original NES game, in that order, before Wind Waker would be on it.

Wow, you suck.

I mean, nothing personal of course, but it's true. You can't just leave out Skyward Sword and expect to be cool.

Well. What do you do really, it is what it is.

I couldn't agree more. This game has everything. Bosses, Secrets, Art Direction, Music, Level Design, and Combat are all top notch. The only reason it didn't make it into my list this year, is because it was too full of other games.

Alright, time to play catchup.

26. Pokémon X/Y

There will always be at least one Poke'mon game on my list. As a franchise Poke'mon is pretty much a must play. What other JRPG franchise has hundreds and hundreds of recruitable characters? What other JRPG franchise has an online VS mode? X/Y makes the list over the other ones, because this is the first time the series jumped from 2D sprites to 3D models.

25. Dragon Quest VIII

This is hands down Level 5's best work. They took the template of DQ7 and just improved on it drastically. The casino is less grindy. There are only 4 party members, letting the game focus on just those four characters, instead of randomly taking members of your party away for plot reasons. The combat was sped up. The multiple class system from DQ7 was taken away in favor of a point based system for each weapon. This meant you didn't have to clutter up your combat menu with useless skills you already learned. Akira Toryama's fantastic character designs finally had graphics that could represent what he made. Add in Yuji's excellent soundtrack and you have a perfect JRPG.

24. Portal

The biggest problem with long games, is that the best parts are interspersed between filler. The developers of Portal kept the game down to a ten hour adventure, making every second of this game interesting, funny, and fun. The whole concept of platforming with a portal gun is genius on a Nintendo level. Now if only we could get Portal 3 with a gravity gun attachment.
