The Wii is great at being a GameCube, so 10/10.

I loved the Wii U's games a lot. Hope we can get some VC for Wii U
Its polarizing to some 'hardcore gamers', truth is it sold over 100 million...I dare say reception was overwhelmingly positive...

Yeah I know that the *actual* reception was way different than the reception it has on forums. I'm just way more interested in a gamers perspective : )
The pointer tech has some awesome application for shooters: see Resident Evil 4 Wii version.
Shame there weren't many as far as I know.
Ultimately, the Wii was a victim of its own monumental success.
If I had to rank the consoles I owned...
1. N64
2. Wii
3. PS4
4. SNES
5. Wii U
6. Xbox
7. Gamecube
8. PS2
Mind, this is a ranking considering games I OWNED with the system, i.e. I didnt own Earthbound, Paper Mario: TTYD, Chrono Trigger, etc on their original systems (but ended up playing on newer systems or via emulation), so not necessarily a ranking based on greatness of the console library.
The Wii was where I played Tales of Symphonia, FE:PoR/RD, Smash Bros Brawl, Metroid Prime Tri. and Dokapon Kingdom. Yes, lots of shovelware, but I think I made out pretty well with a great library of games in my youth. I am now just discovering Arc Rise Fantasia (undubbed) and Rune Factory Frontier, too.

Red Steel 2 and Metroid Prime Trilogy come to mind, as well as Goldeneye.

The Wii is easily my favorite console and the one I have the most games for. Mario Galaxy, Prime Trilogy, Wii Sports games, Skyward Sword, Xenoblade, Brawl, and many others. It made shooters worth playing on consoles for the first time thanks to pointer controls. And despite what people say, it had a ton of great third party support with games like Red Steel 2, Monster Hunter Tri, Goldeneye, Resident Evil, ect. It had great sports games like the early Maddens and later Tiger Woods. I still haven't completed my backlog of Wii games.
Certain people started turning against the Wii after Nintendo's terrible E3 showing in 2008. But the system was fantastic with a ton of fantastic games that were either exclusive or better with the Wiimote than with dual analog controllers. I've had a Wii for 10 years and I still play it regularly.

In that case, its not underrated as a console, but it does have many games that are forgotten due to sheer volume, much like the PS2. But the inclusion of motion controls give it a bad rap online, even though the first party offering is the best Nintendo had put forth overall since the Super Nintendo.
