Freedom of speech doesn't have restrictions. If it did, it would not be a "freedom".

Oh you have all the freedom to say what ever you want but than you have also the freedom to get punished for what you said. That is called the freedom of law.

You guys really dont understand freedom of speech.

Copied: forgett source

You can't incite people to violence, you can't slander (in speech) or libel (in writing) someone, and you can't say things that would make any reasonable person punch you in the face, because them's fightin' words (though telling someone you thought The Force Awakens was a good movie is still technically legal, for some reason).

Yet despite it being completely illegal in real life, people think they are allowed to threaten and harass people online

I agree.

More than that, Bill Maher is right *alot* of the time

True but he still comes across as smug asshole and elitist a lot of the time.  But people that are highly offended by some of the things he says need to realize that he is a comedian.

True, although I'd rather listen to a right asshole then Mark Dice. Especially since Bill Maher occasionally plays the fence, where as Mark Dice is just a reactor to any liberal news

No reasonable person would punch you in the face for anything you said. That makes absolutely no sense, unless you're a caveman with a lack of understanding of how civilized society functions. It's also not illegal as you mentioned. It simply ceases to be protected speech, which is essentially meaningless anyway.

If you think you have the right to assault someone for calling you a name, feel free to enjoy your vacation to the nearest prison.

False.

You clearly need to do some research on the topic.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freedom_of_speech

For example... NDA agreements exist that restricts what you can say.

You can also be prosecuted if your "speech" incites violence/lawless action.

You also have the whole Libel/Slander/Defamation side of the equation as well.

So how is what you just said their any different to what LeBron James did?

Why do you think I actually care about either side?

I don't even know who these people are, except for Trump. Because no one can miss that toupee.

He is talking trump twitter talk.  Just react like Trump tried to say something important but no one gives a fuck.

Listen, I reacted to kapi by using text shorthand (which is loaded with abbreviations such as: smh - "shaking my head", tbh - "laughing out loud", and so on and so forth)

I did not attempt to emulate Trump's tweeting habits (which, in any case, are different from what I did ). So, please don't use Trump's name to smear me through guilt by association. (The latter statement really should be the other way around, but I do suppose that is a byproduct to the perception of Trump by the average VGChartz user.)

In hindsight, I forgot to include a smiley to indicate sarcasm. :P

"LOL" means "laughinf out loud," and "ikr" means "I know, right" by the way.

I didn't know tbh = laughing out loud

You mean to be honest?  Sorry I'm stuck with only knowing afk, brb, lol and select few others.  I finally found out what smh stood for.  Not that I cared or anything.

I WON A BET AGAINST AZUREN! WOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Freedom of speech is pretty simple to understand really.

You're allowed to say anything you want as long as you:

A - don't incite violence
B - don't incite other criminal activity
C - don't perpetuate blatant lies
D - don't fear the consequences of others exercising their free speech to counter whatever you said

And no, no one is obligated to respect someone just because they hold an official title. This isn't a monarchy.
