Are you joking? The guy is a weak imitation of Bowie, The Clash, and his vocals are somewhere between Billy Joe Armstrong and The Killers.
Problem is that the latter two haven't done anything original... Ever. But at least The Killers and Green Day made shit catchey.

the lead singer's voice has a lot of energy in it, and a lot of potential to do great songs.

I don't listen to old hippie music, so no, i am not joking. the lead singer's voice has a lot of energy in it, and a lot of potential to do great songs. |
And I don't listen to classical music so every time a string instrument or piano plays, I shut off the fucking CD player.
It's based off music that is much better. I realize that. You're only shorting yourself by refusing to realize that greater things might exist.

i am not saying one is greater than the other. Billy Talent is not even my favorite band, i am just saying that, the songs i know (Line and sinker, Try Honesty) are just things i never heard in music before. I could enlist my favorites, but Griffin couldn't handle the greatness anyway ;)
Um, yeah. I never said that Billy Talent wasn't good (I actually quite like the music) but when the OP asks for great music, that's the best you have?
The Brian Jonestown Massacre would be better than that.

No, he said he got tired of his own music. So, from my own experience, i choose for Billy Talent. In hope he didn't listen to those hippie bands either, he will find it refreshing music to hear! I also don't know what music he prefers (everyone has preferences, whether you like it or not) so i didn't want to bring out something extreme, but i did want to give him something he might like, something that isn't your regular pop or rockband.
i missed your sneaky edit , that is an emo band.

It's sad that you refer to what I originally posted as hippy bands, as half of them were either against the hippy movement or that the hippy movement was long gone by that point.
But I guess you know that if David Bowie (Ziggy Stardust era) and The Clash are "hippy bands", you must really love the Dead, Dylan, etc. Try again when you get over the age of 20 or spend more than 15 minutes learning music.
...
Jackass.

So Niggy Tardust is a rip off from that? I see..
Anyways, excuse me for listening to music that started at the 90's. Excuse me for not liking the music my parents enjoy.
