It won't, because just like the RTS genre, TBS is just as low in terms of popularity and play, so it hasn't a snowball's chance of ever catching up and overtaking the FPS genre.

 

OT: What's interesting is the number of players dropping the game is being outdone by those picking it up on a daily basis:

Congrats. This has also had an effect on steam itself too, since they just set a new record for concurrence for all of steam, above 15 million players playing at the same time.
