Forums - Gaming - Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age Announced For The West

I'm 100% positive one of the platforms will be left out, and it won't be the PS4.

Still, good to hear. Though, that subtitle looks like it was made by some high school student in their computer graphics class.

Around the Network

it was time they would announce it

OMG yaaaaaassssss finally. I wonder if they'll add orchestrated music and voice acting to the western release of the game.

After Ni No Kuni 2, yeah !!!!! So.. Persona 5 is the best JRPG this year. 2018 Ni No Kuni 2, Dragon Quest XI or Kingdom Hearts 3, so exciting and great for all Player = )

Now it is official. Japanese players report that the PS4 version is more comprehensive and much nicer. The monsters and story-dialoges looks really awesome. PS4 version has thousands of details. Cant wait @ west release

If anyone is interested, the first hour of the game has been played by someone who knows English and Japanese. Nothing really spoiler heavy but man, this game is gorgeous.

I've never interacted with the Dragon Quest community. Why is this thread filled with a disproportionate amount of fans? I mean I think I've heard more people mention Persona outside of gaming forums than Dragon Quest. Not that i'm complaininv, just surprised to see it on so many westerners' radars! I have Dragon Quest 7 on 3ds, suppose I should get to that. Never played one

Good to get an official announcement. Now the wait for platforms and release date.

I'm gonna' go out on a limb here and say PS4 2018 is guaranteed, so you're safe :P

I'm really curious to see which other platforms get it and what versions.  Xbox,  Switch,  pc and 3DS all potential candidates.  Which will join the ps4?!

Persona is a good comparison, as both fanbases have been waiting for a proper home console installment since PS2, and have been getting by with handheld titles & action-y spinoffs in the interum. That said, DQ is a completely different JRPG beast than Persona; old-timey charm, tradition & pacing are the aesthetic. It's one of those rare franchises where some old person who played the first games back on the NES and don't really play modern games can pick up basically any of the more recent DQ titles and not feel completely overwhelmed or lost.

I wasn't saying they were similar lol I just think it's weird I barely hear about it outside of news articles.

Yeah I played some of Dragon Quest 7. Definitely felt....."traditional" : D
