Forums - Gaming - Rumour: The X-remote!

Although my initial pic was clearly a mock-up, this rumour really has a plausible vibe to it. Remember how fast MS took to produce the Scene It controller? Its not hard to imagine something similar with motion-sensing attached.

It's obviously a mockup because I have to believe that no design team would produce such an idiotic controller. Having the analog stick and face buttons operated by the same hand - thumb, actually - is a bad, bad idea.

I was thinking that too, but in the end I don't think it's much different.  If your playing Halo 3 for example, you still have to take your thumb off the right analog stick to press a face button.  Same here in effect, but it'd be more comfortable and seem more natural for current players to instead have the face buttons above the analog control.   Also, how will the analog control button compare to an actual analog stick?  Not to favourably I'd imagine.

The overall control for a FPS would be improved, especially accuracy, but that might unbalance gameplay if they release a patch for this controller to be used.  People using the new controller might have an unfair advantage, however slight - creating a  lot of haters.

I can see MS doing this in their quest to expand into the mainstream market, but they'll always look like the copycat wannabe instead of the Wii-al thing.  See what I did there?  Yeah, sorry about that. Couldn't resist.

Why do I keep seeing this complaint? Are you people aware that the 360 controller has two analog sticks? The "main" stick will be on the left-hand part of the controller, just like it is on the regular one (there's no word of a "nunchuck" for this controller, but it would obviously be useless without one). The stick on the wand will be for minor things like camera control, just like it's always been.

The reason the Wii doesn't have a second analog stick has nothing to do with motion and analog on the same component being a bad idea. It's because they stripped away all non-essential inputs to keep it simple and casual-friendly. That's also why there's only one face button... There's no reason in the world for a "hardcore" system like the 360 or the PS3 to restrict itself in the same way.

If anyone has the gif of the dog jumping out of the moving truck to "catch" the other dog this would be a good thread for it.

This is obviously fake. Microsoft wouldn't be as stupid to do this... people would immediately recognize it as a rip-off, and the inevitable suing of Microsoft by Nintendo would occur.

There is no way this is real.

I thought microsoft already announced they were coming out with a motion controller. I just assumed it would be a lot like the thing above. Though with less buttons. Four face buttons there just seems like it'd be excessive and get in the way.

Maybe it'll look totally different though.  Maybe they'll get sued by the makers of the Vii.
