I can see this happening. however, I would think it unwise on MS's part. For one just because they have this controller doesn't mean 3rd parties who are building Wii-specific games will port it to the 360 to use it. After all how much of an attach rate will this peripheral actually get? 10% max, maybe. I have always maintained that pretty soon Wii will be getting king's share of game development and that any multiplatform games would be Wii designed and then ported to ps360. What MS is betting on is when this happens, it will only be Wii/360 since PS3 doesn't have a comparable controller. (which also shows they think I'm right, leo-j)

Basically this is Malstrom's ideas coming to fruitrition.

MS and Sony have realized they are losing/lost the lower tiers in video games. Sony doesn't care and will move upstream, just like they did with their electronics when China/Korea pummeled their products. MS on the other hand will try to fight it out with Nintendo. However, MS isn't realizing that the fight is already over and to push this out with all the marketing and a few craptacular games will just increase their losses.

Or it simply so a 3rd party like EA with Madden football give players the choice if they want motion controls when playing the game on 360. Since EA develops the wii version for the motion controls it wouldn't take much effort to give 360 fans the same option if the gamer choses. I believe the greatest fear some have is what happens if 360 takes away it's motion control advantage of the wii while at the same time 360 can run games like Madden in HD.

Now I personally doesn't really care to play Madden with motion controls.

If motion controls and IR hand tracking is really the future of gaming ( in most cases I hope not) then surely Mircosoft is making a smart move.

arg now we have low-fliers. What next? I thought motion controls are the second coming and suddenly they are "downmarket"? Besides Sony does care about looking casual gamers. They have singstar ps eye lbp and I bet somewhere someone is developing a dance mat. Do you think "hardcore" upmarket highflyier whatever do not buy the system because of that? Really that won't be
a problem. (the wiimote knockoff will probably suck and is not supported by every 360 so there are problems but dissappointing "highflyers is definitely not one of them)

M$ is a copycat.
Zune= iPod
Vista= OSX (BTW Vista sucks, read some reviews)
Now this, when has Microsoft actually made something that was there original idea ?
If they do this it will flop, like the zune and vista.

I never knew Apple invented mp3 players and operating systems.

I've been living in the dark!

On a less sarcastic point. A console doesn't always have to stay 'upmarket'. I remember back in the day when the PS2 was launched and it was considered wildly expensive and exclusive. Then it became 'downmarket' and everyone has one.

I predict it will happen just like Sony did with Crash Bandicoot. Remember that guy?
Crash was wonderful.  Crash 1, 2, and 3 were not close to Mario 64 in graphics but they had excellent control for their day and better camera angles.  I'd rather replay those games than Mario 64 or Mario Sunshine.  I'm sure I'm in the minority, but ASAIK, the Crash games of PS1 were much better than the Mario games on N64 and GC.

Why not just create a 360 sensor bar that can read the Wii's movements?
That way Wii users who purchase a 360 won't be force to purchase 4 more remotes??

The problem is that Nintendo is disrupting the market using the Wii ( and DS ) ...

It's just a remote Nintendo should not sue.

Companies didn't sue other companies when they would come out with controllers that resembled their own console's.
