This conference was so unreal, Phil "mr nice guy" Spencer starts off promising +40 games with +20 exclusives, and I'm like "yeah finally the moment we've been waiting for this entire gen, MS is taking the gloves off!", and then... they show off the few games announced years ago we knew were coming, and all the rest are TIMED EXCLUSIVE INDIES and 3rd party sizzle reel trailers... Code Vein, Dragon ball seriously, that's E3 stage material, that's what Phil's trip to Japan amounted to? Sony could have a 12 hour conference with games like those.
MS also still loves their timed exclusives, since they can't pay for the AAA games to go timed exclusive anymore they have started targeting indies.
My worst fears are starting to come true for Xbox. It's turning into a risk averse, exclusive-less, colorless, sterile platform whose main selling point is system specs. They haven't announced any Fall 2018 game yet, lemme guess: they've saved that for E3 next year: Forza Horizon 4 for Q3 2018 and Halo 6 for Q4 2018.
This felt like a how a conference would be if it was done by a consortium of multiplat developers and everybody chipped in to have a sizzle reel trailer.
After the "1 billion game investment" and "we're upping our 1st party offerings" I was a fool to believe the lies again. Now I understand why BC is so important to them, they wanna keep feeding us old games to make up for the lack of new ones, but it's also a reminder to how good their 1st party once was. Phil loved talking about creativity yesterday but it didn't come from his own team.
I just hope Sony doesn't scale down their 1st party now that MS has given up.
