I'm seeing a July release for Lair and a November release for R&C.
Why is this thread even about the PS3? I started it to show that the 360 lineup is going to force me to postpone a few purchases.

Microsoft is going to sell a lot of software... But it takes hardware sales to be king in this industry. I think September will prove whether Microsoft can make it past 30 million worldwide this generation. If hardware doesn't get to Wii-like levels with that many AAA releases, Microsoft has already found their entire audience more or less, and probably won't see more than another 15 million or so sales throughout the entire lifespan of the machine, and Sony will have a great opportunity to not come out dead last. But if Microsoft cleans up, and I mean *really* cleans up, then not only will Sony be completely buried this generation, but Nintendo will have a genuine competition for first place.

I think that's a pretty fair evaluation. MS has a lot riding on those five weeks.Â

I think Lair got knocked back until September.

The wording is none too clear, but I think he means GTA IV would be the game of the year. I suppose it will depend on what you kinds of games you like, I mean is anyone really surprised by the Xbox guy saying the top 3 games of the year will be GTA IV, Halo 3 and Mass Effect? Oh what a coincidence, that's 1 Xbox 360 multi-plat and two exclusives.
It remains to be seen how things turn out, but I think we can pretty safely say all three major consoles will have one game in the top 5. Unless every single delay rumour for the PS3 is true anyway, and we won't be seeing MGS4 or FF13 until 2008.
Anyways, starting with the second week of August, the mega-hits start flowing. Madden will kick things off, as always, and be followed by Metroid and Brain Age the next week, leading into a fall that will include Halo, GTA, Mario, Smash, Zelda, MGS, Guitar Hero, Ratchet, SOCOM and the Sims. And these are just the established heavy-hitting franchises (and I probably missed a few). To say nothing of the 5 or 6 potential breakout hits that Wii, PS3, 360, and DS each have.
