Forums - Gaming - If Skyrim Switch does well, could we see other old game ports to the Switch?

Skyrim will do ok. Not because it's 3rd party but because it's Skyrim. Any publisher who thinks Skyrim numbers mean their game will sell as well is an idiot.

Well this is the game industry that thinks 'You can beat Call of Duty by being Call of Duty with a different name'.....

I'd like to see enhanced ports of a few last gen games as well as optimized portable versions of current gen games. Add that to Nintendo's lineup, and healthy indie support, and you have the perfect cross-generational platform.

If third parties see success on Switch, it will be very expensive to be an owner. I'm at 4 physical, 2 digital games on Switch right now and current plans put me at 12 physical games, 4 digital (at the very least) by year's end.

I'm typically quite selective, and my Switch library could eclipse my PS4 collection in 2018.

Well Bomberman apparently did pretty well enough, Konami might have some ideas.

I don't see why not. If it sells fine for them to cover port costs. But it might make the switch look only like a port station.

Just because Skyrim does well on Switch, it doesn't mean most games will - and I think 3rd party publishers will be hesitant to port older games over, unless it's something like GTA V (but that's never getting ported of to the NS)

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

I think if Skyrim does well we will get some other port from Bethesda like Fallout New Vegas or Dishonored but other than that I don't know how it could affect other third parties unless it sells A LOT (like 4/5M in one year ) and third parties realize that people have interest in having older games on the go

Well, Capcom already jumped on that train with Ultra Street Fighter II! I predict that others will too.

At some point, publishers bothered to put the likes of Arkham games, AC, Ninja Gaiden, and Mass Effect on the WiiU - so I do expect the same on Switch given how well its doing.

A big reason I loved Zelda on Switch so much was that I had this massive game I could pick up whenever I wanted to. I don't think I'm alone in wanting that same thing for at least a few other games too.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Publishers should choose which projects to port on the Switch basing on the user experience they can offer on the system and on customers expectations. Expecting any 3rd party game to be successfull if Elder Scrolls sells well is the same as implying any 3rd party game is equal.
