Do we really need a topic each time Nintendo creates artificial " shortages" to create a artificial hype?

Its not selling faster as the ps4 and sony could make enough system after launch, soo can Nintendo.

Well...if you read the news lately Nintendo and Apple are battling for flash memory parts among other mobile device parts. It isn't...artificial hype... Sony's PS4 is essentially 3+ year old desktop counterparts so of course those aren't hard to get a hold of and the home console competition was slim to none. This is Apple we're talking about, they're going to be able to reach a better deal with manufacturers than Nintendo because they are of course worth more than Nintendo but Nintendo is still getting its share of parts. Sony never had to ship consoles overseas and take losses on PS4s, so how is this artificial hype?

nintendo should just sell them at a loss, if will help them in the long run

It's things like this that make me think that Pokemon and a Smash port aren't necessary this year if rumors are to be believed. In fact, it would probably be more prudent to release them next year when supply constraints aren't a thing.  Until then, BotW, Mario Odyssey, ARMS, MK8:D, Splatoon 2 and Xenoblade 2 can hold down the fort.

Remember when the Switch was about to release and pundits, including people from this board, thought it would just be another Wii U and fail. But now that the system is selling it's "artificial." If its artificial, then why are companies like Gamestop and even Bestbuy beating earnings BECAUSE of the Switch. Don't think the PS4 ever created this level of increase for other companies.

The reason Sony could supply PS4s is that there wasn't the same level of demand as there is for Switch. Systems are selling out in hours. Stores can't keep them on the shelves long enough.  There is nothing artificial here.

Did this ever happen with the DS or Wii?

It happens here in Japan with every non-ms console, but who am I to break the narrative?

Hint: even happened for the ultra successful WiiU.

I thought you were trying to evolve as a person? Did that become boring?

The Switch has Zelda and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe to drive the first few months and we've now seen the initial success so far. Then you have Splatoon 2 taking names in preorders (even selling out its preorders for the headset people maligned). Plus the news of MHXX being ported along with the anticipation of Mario Odyssey, FE Warriors, FE 2018, Dragon Quest, Xenoblade, SMT, etc. seems to continue the excitement. Not to mention the potential for Animal Crossing, Smash Bros., and Pokémon coming could utterly destroy in Japan.

Or you could have avoided clicking on this thread if you didn't want to read about Nintendo's "artificial shortages".

I'm pretty sure, given its nature, the components that go into a Switch are different than the ones that go into a PS4. I think the Switch has to compete with smartphones for some of the components.

Out of all the stupid comments I read today, this is the winner.
