Forums - Gaming - 1st party games are not quite popular on PS4

If we follow this logic, no game under the 30th performs well, so... the market is a failure? No, but 3m copies are VERY HIGH standards. How many people bought PS4 for Bloodborne and Horizon Zero Dawn?

This line of thinking is the same Microsoft has "well, this game will not sell like Halo so I might as well cancel it".

3DS, Wii, PSP, Vita, PS2, PS3, PS4 & Steam.

5m for basically two best PS3 games on instal base of 60m IMO is not great its good, UE4 has great sales, but again only 3 1st party games passed 3m sales mark and reached top 30 best selling games.

There is nothing about logic, but point that 1st party games are not nearly popular or system sellers like some people are think on PS4.

Can you please quote these "some people"?

I also hope you do know that being a system seller does not also mean having to sell a lot of copies. All games collectively drive console sales. At least consoles with a wide variety. I don't really see your point here.

The sales numbers of Sony's 1st party games do not contradict at all that they're the biggest system sellers.

Any game could be system seller, but some games are strong system seller and some weak system sellers.

it's not like PS owners have only one or two games to rely on, there is just so many games. A lot of games..

It not same logic, logic is that you have only 3 1st party games in top 30 best selling games.

I wish my nintendo consoles had such brilliant selling 3rd party games maybe then I'd actually have some diversity. Think majority off my Wii u games are platformers or ports off old Zelda games. My switch I only own 2 Wii u ports, BotW and MK8D

Gran Turismo Sport, God of War, TLOU 2. There's some major sellers on the way.

That's the beauty of PlayStation though, massive amount of choice and variety. It's great that companies other than the platform holder have huge success on the system.

You're trying to spin this into a bad thing though, why is it bad that third party games are doing so well? It'd only be bad if these games that sell so well weren't on the system.

Thats true, but this is current list, I am sure there are also some other 3rd party sellers on the way.

Agree, but my point is that 1st party games are not nearly popular like some people think.

And all Sony games are popular. PS4 has a very diverse audience, which means sales are spread across a lot more games.

Sony so far has released 15! 1st party games that all sold above 1m. All of them completely different style and genre. They cater to all tastes and each of their games has a sizeable audience. Not to mention they all have to compete with a very strong 3rd party lineup that is just not present on other platforms. People have a finite a mount of money and that sometimes people choose a 3rd party game over a 1st party game because they have a limited amount to spend does not mean Sony's 1st party games aren't popular. They are the reason for the vast majority of PS4 buyers to actually get the console.

How you can misconstrue that as Sony games not being popular is beyond me.
