And here I thought Microsoft and XBox were anti-consumer. This is a very nice gesture.

But, what are they plotting?
So I take it this is the replacement for the originally promised new Phantom Dust? If so, scratch another 2014 E3 promise off the list.
At least it's free but this takes their "high profile" exclusives this year down from 4 (Halo Wars 2, Forza, Crackdown, and Phantom Dust) down to 3. And one of them is still just a pinkie promise with no release date and limited actual game footage.

Evilness and wickedness and naughtiness and a Steam-like refund policy.

I think the sad thing about the reboot is that after watching the vid, this game NEEDED a reboot. It has not aged well. The animations aren't very good and the gameplay just looks really slow. Some of the environments look dull, too.
It kinda reminds me of the PS2 on PS4 games. Only MS is probably going to be pushing this more than Sony pushes those, because they don't have much else in the way of exclusives and because it now has the added "improvement" of pay to win microtransactions.

Indeed. Everyone is so focused on evaluating the Switch's position but imo it's Xbox that is on unstable ground, imo.

State of Decay 2 and Sea of Thieves.
It has microtransactions though, knew there was a catch lol.
But cool nonetheless, will check it out. I imported the original from the US as it never came out in Europe. Cool boxart. I think I was able to run it on my modded 360 with the hacked BC emulator.
This is from the creator of Panzer Dragoon btw. Sad they cancelled the reboot and the way they treated the devs.

"One thing to consider is that even though Phantom Dust will be free, it'll feature microtransactions"

Hmm, very well, I suppose I'll include those.
So that ups their list of "high profile" releases from 3 to 5.
Edit: sorry for the edit, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity :P

The game wasn't ported for free I think.
Full original game to play through for free, you can buy multiplayer cards if you want to, but will not be penalized if you don’t.
