Title technically correct while at the same time not correct.

Better title, "MK8D is the top selling game in 2017 on Amazon.com"

Higher than Zelda, higher than Horizon.

This is where Sony makes that profit bois. These bad boys. But in terms of shear software, congrats to Nintendo. Smart move having Zelda and MK8 back to back.

Wow! This is looking awesome!

Pocky Lover Boy!

Expected, since it's the launch week but good to see anyways

A large part of that is that you are porting from an 80 million userbase in one instance and a 14 million userbase in another.  Another part is they saw what those ports were like and the success driven from them and realize now that ports aren't all bad.  :)

I don't think the bolded is particularly relevant to what people used to argue. Install base matters because of the effect it can have on sales, but the sales of a PS4/X1 remaster had little effect on the criticism it received from certain portions of the community. My opinion has always been that if a remaster sells well and is enjoyed, then its existence is justified. That opinion was often shot down though because remasters are all "lazy" and "take away resources from new games".

I'm glad we're past that, but it's depressing that we usually only see significant overall shifts in opinion from Sony, MS, or Nintendo fans when their company of choice joins in on what was previously "bad". There are plenty of people who are earnest in their opinions, but they often get drowned out. 'Tis a silly business.

Yes, if it sells well then it was a good idea for Nintendo or Sony to do it. So did it sell well? I bet Nintendo has looked at those as examples of what remakes could do on modern consoles.

And the 80 mil vs 14 mil comparison is only relevant now that it is happening. Obviously they didn't make that argument 3 years ago because the Switch didn't exist.

Lol, MK8D already above Zelda BotW that had 100% attach rate on Switch in March. Crazy.

I'm quite surprised at who created this thread.

Looking great.

Idk I've just never really seen you be really positive about Nintendo before. Then I open this thread see your avatar and the first words "switch is a BEAST!"
