I try to squeeze out as much exp as I can (without wasting items) before leaving a palace in order to save time and level up my stats and social links. My preferable spot for grinding is palaces. I only go to Mementos when a new gate is opened and complete all requests I've gathered in one go.

The most important Confidants for the game economics are the Star, Death, Sun, Fortune, and Temperance. you'll have to upgrade them to at least level 3-5 to get useful abilities/items such as:

Slacking off in classes, doing the laundry (Kawakami)
SP Adhesive (Takemi)
Double money bonus (Hifumi)
Luck and money reading (Chihaya)
Negotiation abilities (Yoshida)

allowingThe best thing about temperance is when maxed you can get her to give you a massage after coming out of mementos and the palace that takes away your tiredness   you to go out that night.

I have blacked it out, but don't see how it's anymore a spoiler than the list I replied to.

Probably the best jrpg I've played in almost 10 years.
