My reasoning is simple really. GTA has always been a Playstation brand and i guarntee you if you ask some random bloke on the street, "What platform is Grand Theft Auto on?" he will most likly reply "The playstation". So by now you are asking what the hell does this have to do with anything? Well think about it if 16 million people bought GTA SA on the PS2 where do you think the majority are going to go to? Exactly the PS3. Most of the people who bought GTA SA were casuauls/normal gamers meaning that they arnt really going to care about online and extra mission packs that the 360 is getting. Hell i wouldnt mind having the extra packs because i am a hardcore gamer, but im happy with my PS3. So anyway a  casual/normal gamer is going to go into a shop and see GTA IV on PS3 and 360 and thinks well the PS3 is £70 (I LIVE IN THE UK) more expensive but then again looks at the whole package and see PS3 offers way more than the 360. By this i mean

- Blu Ray (U all know downloadable films aint gonna catch on)

- More reliable hardware (A causual/normal gamer wouldn't have a good idea of what to do if he got RROD)

- A more familiar controller (DUALSHOCK 3)

- Free Online (I know im contradicting myself with what i said earlier but hell if it's free of course theyre gonna take advantage)

Now some of you may not agree at all, and thats fine by me. But top anyalsts such as Micheal Pachter and co have all said familiar things. So where do i think this will ultimatly boil down to, well

- PS3 will move alot more hardware than 360

- 360 will have the earlier jump on software due to all previous Xbox Owners buying GTA IV first but evenutaully PS3 software will level out and perhaps surpass 360's GTA IV software sales.

On my last point some of you might be thinking WTF, americans buy gta the most and 360 is kicking ass over there, but yes, if current trends continue as NPD showed PS3 outselling the 360 month in month out then it will only be a matter of time before it catches up, and if PS3 is meant to last for 10 years then it's inevetable.

Xbox360 premium : 269 euros
Xbox360 arcade : 199 euros

PS3 40gb : 400 euros

do you still think PS3 will be the only winner ?

Well I think most people will know it comes out on 360 since all the ads I see are for the 360. It's gonna be good for PS3 though since it's gonna be it's first huge game.

What about when Call of Duty 4 launched?
What about when Dynasty Warriors 5 in Japan launched?
What about the advertising campaign?
What about the exclusive content?

If people are buying a system for Grand Theft Auto 4, they will buy the most affordable, attractive system.

Fact: If they are buying a system for GTAIV, they aren't buying it for Blu-Ray, they are, in fact, buying it for Grand Theft Auto IV.

Fact: Consumers aren't going to care about reliability. If that was the case, the faulty PS2 wouldn't of sold so well.

Fact: Consumers aren't buying a video game system for the controller, they are buying it for Grand Theft Auto IV.



Will there be alot of new PS3 owners because of GTAIV? Sure. Will there be even more 360 owners? Yes. Right now, if a consumer was to buy a system for GTAIV, the system would greatly be the choice of the 360: It's cheaper (by alot), and has the exclusive content. If Microsoft promotes the exclusive 360-only content, then the 360 will be the console of choice. We've seen time and time again, the lead console benefits the most: If it's in Japan, the PS3 did better. If it was in NA, the 360 tended to do better, in Europe, it's about "both"....Guess which country is going to buy the hardware for GTAIV? The US.

What has COD4 and Dynstaty Warriors got anything to do with GTA?

lol mrstickball you're such a fanboy, you honestly think the GTA4 is going to move more consoles for the 360 than the PS3 despite the fact there are already 11.4 million 360s in America and only 4.5 million PS3's? hilarious.

also the PS2 didn't have nearly a 33% failure rate, plus you could easily fix it 90% of the time by cleaning the lense.

I agree with mrstickball, both will have their boosts in sales, but i think that 360 will benefit more, just because of the price point...thought the bonus content is a big plus, the majority doesn't know it :/

I for one, if i had no PS3/360, i would go 360 GTAIV, and if i had both, 360 as well. (unless i would like to support the PS3 version...which i will :) )
