I decided to create this thread to try and understand what do players expect of videogames today. Mainly, because everything we see this days is criticize the hardware power and the hardware of consoles.
In fact, Sony and Microsoft follow this trend, with new more powerfull hardware.
But is this what players seek? Higher numbers, higher Teraflops? I mean, what will Scorpio and Pro bring to the table? Prettier Forza 7, prettier Gran Turismo? Higher resolution?
What about story, originality, new ways to play?
On the last month we saw loads of threads criticizing the Switch because of it's lower specs, but it is not only the Switch. Games like Pillars of Eternity on the PC had extremely good reviews, and it's isometric, amongst many others, showing that a GTX1080 is not needed to experience good games.
It honestly saddens me as a players to see how most of the other players look towards the market, not as something to have fun, to experience, to be memorable, but as something to flash to others, to compete for the biggest numbers of Teraflops...
I hope they won't end up turning consoles into closed PC boxes...
