Bought their stuff since the N64 era. Got burned quite a few times. The worst was with their PS1 memory cards. Those things would corrupt if you farted too loudly.
I'm surprised it took so long. My parents used to buy so many Mad Katz controllers when I was a kid, and I don't think a single one lasted more than a month. We had this Wiimote charging station that wouldn't even work right out of the box. Can't help but associate this company with cheap crap that doesn't work.

I had a Mad Catz Gamecube controller back in the day, it kinda sucked though.

I bought an ear piece headset for my ps3 years back. Cost about €60 and it was a piece of junk. Made my friends ears burn.
Almost made it 30 years, a good enough run.

just known this company with fighting sticks. that rock band 4 was heavily advertised but not enough sales it seems.

shame but maybe they A) should have made better third party console controllers and B) maybe they shouldn't have invested so heavily in making the Rockband guitar accessories or whatever when the genre was dead. They banked on a revival
But god they made some ugly and awkward cheap third party controllers, from this boomerang Nintendo 64 one, to clear Gamecube and PS2 ones. Not great quality.
I've heard their arcade sticks were better in recent times but still. Should have tried to do higher quality on average and built their reputation, Mad Katz always was the extra controller that no one wanted to use :/
Just look at Hori if you want to see a third party accessory company that has done well by striving for IMPROVING controllers or near matching them

Nope, they've always made shitty rock band instruments. Drums in particular. Having to "RMA" your kit under warranty was extremely common back in RB1, they got the build quality somewhat under control for the next two games but they've once again returned to shit tier with their RB4 instruments. My brand new drumset literally just stopped working like a week after the warranty was up. No broken pads, no broken bass pedal, it just completely crapped out. That's why harmonix ditched them like a year after RB4 came out, and they've since partnered with PDP for peripheral instruments (who makes a much much better guitar btw). I'm sure RB4s less than stellar sales had a bad impact, but that was definitely exasperated by all the warranty returns they had to replace/repair.
That's sad. They have been around almost since I began playing games since the late 80s. They will be a part of game history. I hope their employees find employment quickly.
