So you're basically the loser if you choose PC?.

let's just say that i can't see the benefits of getting tempted to upgrade so far ahead curve to a point where one can't handle the still widespread 1080p/30fps standard anymore. and i also don't see the winner argument in the "spend on hardware, save on software" mentality because that only leads to widen the gap between the average game and the theoretical maximum performance level of a gpu. if we all would make decisions like that we will end up playing nothing but flappy bird type games on our supercomputers.

So you are sticking with what I said before then?.

Nah I wouldn't trust pc, things break with different configs, setups, OS, hell even switching a gpu brand might break things.

Sounds like someone is prone to breaking the desktop more than the desktop just magically breaking on it's own, especially when said person doesn't know much about computers in the first place and makes a horrible build.

things like the extra waiting time for pc releases of gta 5 or ffxv for example or an increasing number of subpar pc optimizations for new games could make one feel left out, don't you agree? overall, the majority of aaa game devs prefere consoles because it's easier for them to build games for one set of hardware then the countless custom hardware combinations that pc is, so it's only reasonable for them to prioritize console games over pc releases.

Depends really. everything takes time, like how everyone waited 10 years for FXV, while the PC release is looking at another year wait, GTA V only took around 2 years and was a stellar port for all and came out on top in terms of visuals from the other versions. THe number of "subpar" ports are in few number compared to the rest out there that work really well.

I wouldn't say the majority of AAA devs rpefer consoles, especially not going by a recent listing of what devs want to program for: https://www.destructoid.com/developer-survey-shows-pc-development-interest-on-top-switch-on-bottom-426092.phtml

Also one set of ahrdware?, I don't think so, not with the Wii U, X1, PS4, PS4Pro, Scoprio and Switch let alone 3DS, making it multiple different sets of ahrdware to program for already, which hasn't made it "super simple" for all devs at all.

it's not reasonable either to forgo PC in favor of consoles, but that's what you want to believe.

Again I'm going to assume you are calling those that choose investing into a PC as "losers" despite the advantages and changes that have come to the platform over the years.

- PS4 is the market leader by far this time. But, if the Scorpio is priced right, and the Switch ends up being monster hit, then that's an attack on Sony from two opposite angles. Scorpio could be the preferred platform for multis for those with the cash, and the Switch could end up soaking up a lot of Japanese support that PS4 was supposed to see. Sony will have the strength of its first party titles, but would that be good enough to hold the others at bay up until the next platform? PC owners could see themselves being less concerned with buying the platform since they'll see some of the library on PSNow should they want to subscribe.

If somebody cared enough about graphics to want to get a Scorpio over a PS4, then why not just get a PC? I don't see anybody that follows the industry getting a Scorpio. MS just doesn't do exclusives anymore.

The Switch won't soak up Japanese support any more than the N64, and Gamecube soaked up Japanese support. If anything we are going to see a new breed of games that is Switch/PS4 exclusive. PSNow isn't going to have high rated PS4 exclusives. That would be a suicidal move on Sony's part.

And to be fair, PS4 really does have more quality games than PC at this point.

2017

Nioh
Horizon: Zero Dawn
Yakuza 0
Gravity Rush 2
Persona 5

2016

Uncharted 4
Odin Sphere
Ratchet and Clank
Final Fantasy XV
Dragon Quest Builders
The Last Guardian
Gravity Rush Remastered
Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X
Rigs: Mechanized Combat League

2015

Disgaea 5
Arkham Knight (Pretty much a console exclusive since it is a buggy pile on PC.)
Bloodborne

2014

LittleBigPlanet 3
inFamous Second Son

What about PC? Well, indie games can be played on anything, so they aren't a compelling reason to get a PC over a PS4.

2017

Nothing

2016

Civ VI
Shadow Tactics Blades of the Shogun
Hearts of Iron
Wow: Legion

2015

Pillars of Eternity
Homeworld Remastered Collection
Heroes of the Storm

2014

Titanfall
Galactic Civilizations III
Age of Wonders III
Wow: Warlords

Ideally people should just own a PS4, Switch, 3DS, and PC. Playing on a single platform means you are missing out on too much.

I don't really understand the logic of this sentence and the following list of games, you're comparing a console released in 2013 with a platform that has games going back decades. Are you suggesting that people chose to buy a PS4 or PC solely on high budget exculsives?

I don't even get why he's compaing a console of a single gen, to a platform that has a very vast library, but devaluing it entirely in favor of the smaller one.

I'm suggesting that the PS4 is better because it has more quality exclusives. Comparing the PC's decades long back catalog to a console that launched in 2013 isn't a fair comparison at all. A better comparison would be to line up exclusives year by year. What games did PS3 get in 2007-2013? What games did PC get in those same years? Were any of those games well recieved by critics? I think, when you answer these questions with an open mind you find that the PS3 beat the PC in it's heyday. Same goes for the PS2 vs PC games from 2001-2006, and PS1 vs PC games from 1995-2000.

The thread asks if PC is a safer choice due to the volatility of the console market. Of course it's a loaded question to begin with. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loaded_question The console market isn't volatile and hasn't been for 30 years. Sony has been pumping out quality content at a steady rate for the last 20+ years. My statement and list was an attempt to show that Sony is just as strong and safe a bet as ever.
