Forums - Gaming - New NieR: Automata mod removes the 60fps cap

Well, you gotta love modders. As we’ve already said, NieR: Automata is locked at 60fps. Now while this is perfectly fine by us (after all, it’s not locked at 30fps), we know that some PC gamers were a bit disappointed by such a thing. Well good news if you are one of them because modder ‘lolisamurai‘ has released a mod that removes the 60fps lock.

According to the modder, this fix does not speed up physics and works fine on Windows 7 (he did not test the mod on other operating systems, so there might be some bugs).

Here is how you can install this new mod (it requires Kaldaien’s FAR mod).

Add the following at the top of your dxgi.ini in your Nier automata folder:

[Import.nier_uncapped] Architecture=x64 Filename=nier_uncapped.dll Role=ThirdParty When=PlugIn
  • Run the game, disable vsync in the options and hope for the best.

Durante has even been looking into Nier as well:

Modder Kaldaien has released a new version of his FAR mod for NieR: Automata. This new version features the God Rays and Bloom effects improvements that Durante has discovered, meaning that PC gamers can now enable higher quality effects in order to further improve the game’s visuals.

In addition, Kaldaien has revealed how PC gamers can run Reshade alongside his mod. All you have to do is follow this guide:

  • Uninstall both ReShade and FAR.
  • Install ReShade.
  • Navigate to the game folder and rename dxgi.dll and dxgi.ini to ReShade64.dll and ReShade64.ini
  • Install FAR.
  • Play the game and enjoy your FarShade.

Those interested can download this new version of the FAR mod from here.

It will be interesting to see whether PlatinumGames will implement these new features in the game’s upcoming official patch.

All I can say is that it's a good thing that we have mods/modders around to sort out any issues or problems that the devs cba fixing.

I do think that devs out there, that wish to port to PC were to hire Durante whenever possible, ebcause that guy works wonders and is able to fix issues here and there.

Its not that devs can't do this... its that these things aren't stable across most PCs and its more important for devs trying to hit a deadline to have the game run in a way that will work for most people.

That unfortunately means caps and disabling features that didnt get enough testing

damnit PC is so damn good! FREEDOM, remove all the caps, but my card barely managed to hold 60 so it wont do much for me lol.

Last week: "OMG this port is so bad, I can't even hit 50 fps!"
This week: "60 fps cap removed, yeah!" :D

(Meanwhile, I'm still stuck at last week status...)

We've only had a few games in recent years with caps, not caps on all games on PC for years and years. We've also had plenty of titles that have run well across a plethora of buolds (otherwise you'd hear for decades 99% of the time that PC is unplayable by that logic).

They hardly disabled many features, they just didn't patch their game and make it actually stable for release, competent devs actually show the difference, especially those that cater towards PC in terms of unique and standard options.

The modders are already sorting out the game and getting it to run as it should be. Whenever Durante shows up, you know something was needing to be sorted out.

I still think it's better to praise the work of those wanting to fix/make the game more stable than trying to excuse the devs and ignore the work being done on the game to make it playable for more people out there.
