You left out Nier Automata :)

Not familiar with it.

I platinumed Nioh, but still was not tired of it. Started Horizon and now I have Zelda.... I doubt I will be done with these 2 by the time Mass Effect releases.

That should make your 30 days even better.

lol

2011 had Dark Souls, Skyrim, Skyward Sword 3-way match. Among others.

2007 last 5 months had Bioshock, Metroid Prime 3, Halo 3, Skate, COD 4, MGS 4, Super Mario Galaxy, Uncharted, The Witcher, Contra 4, Mass Effect, Crysis among others. And it also had Zack and Wiki.

1998 - Metal Gear Solid and Ocarina of Time within a month of each other!!!

....And many others, but without doubt the only remarkable thing about the last few months is that is remarkable only withing such a disappointing generation. So I agree is the best for the current Gen.

But...but... what about the giant robot dinosaurs! And the combat! And those graphics! What did you think about The Witcher 3, GTAV, and MGSV? Are you generally not a big fan of open world games?

Apparently not

Loved GTAV, but haven't played The Witcher 3 or MGSV. GTAV's open world had a lot more to do though. Horizon has stuff to do, but it's just not as enjoyable to actually do. Besides, I played Far Cry Primal last year and Horizon reminds me so much of that it's not even funny. The enemies are similar, the combat is similar, the open world mechanics are really similar. The graphics are great, but I can't play graphics and it's far from the first game that has had great graphics. They're just not as awe inspiring as they used to be imo.

Yeah, density, quality, and variety are pretty much the three things an open world game has to hit in order to stay interesting in this day and age imo, and rarely does a game manage even two of those points. Actually, even the WItcher 3 lacked a bit when it came to variety, but the quality of the writing and the freedom of choice pretty much made up for it. Still, the "Ubisoft open world" has got to be one of the most boring and repetitive examples this gen, so for you to compare Horizon to FC: Primal is just...damn. Brutal, man.

what are you LOLing about? You clearly did not even read or bother to comprehend the title even. Notice the words at the end. Current console gen.

So ya, based on your list this has been the best 30 days pure quality wise since holidays 2007.  I think it is worth pointing out we are havimg a 10 year event (97, 07, 17)

psn- tokila

Can't help but disagree. Horizon disappointed me and the rest... couldn't give a fuck about them. Don't know about best 30 day period, but at the very least I think the launch month for PS4/Xbox One was better. Yeah, I'd take Knack & Killzone Shadow Fall over all the games mentioned in the OP anyday.

I think it's possible to not personally care for the games released in a givern period of time, yet still accept that they are extremely well reviewed and an extremely diverse set of offerings.

Of the games mentioned, the only one I've played is Halo Wars 2 (which is brilliant IMO) yet I tend to agree with the OP based on reviews.

It's funny how in the flurry of this season HW2 is getting completely overshadowed. I haven't seen notable coverage of it anywhere. Glad to hear it's good! If I had an Xbox or Windows PC I might think about it.

I've found Gen 8 to be really fun, though my main issue is that prices for games and consoles are just going up and up D:

games have been 60 bucks since like the N64. Now if you do the season's pass thing I get why the cost would be higher, but you are also getting more time out of the game. N64 games were 60 bucks and online did not exist yet, so there were just a few game that offered "infinite" replay if you had a few friends or siblings that you could play with (Mario Kart, Goldeneye, etc)

Platina is from Canada, prices have gone up from $60 a few years ago to roughly $80 now, counting for inflation now games are the most expensive since the NES.

OT: You should extend it to 40 days so you can also count Yakuza 0
