Forums - Sony - PSN store how to piss off your customers

After 5 playthroughs of the excellent RE7 and dabling into the DLC for a bit I figured let's see if there are any deals on psvr games. Lo and behold there were lots on sale until the 7th. That's today so let's shop. I start adding some stuff I wanted to try out, while I'm browsing things start to disappear. Confused I can't find what I wanted anymore I check my cart and my total has suddenly shot up to $127. All discounts disappeared. I restart the shop, go to the psvr game page, the discounts are still listed. But when I click on the game the discount is gone again. I check the fine print on the overview page, valid until Februari 7th 8 AM PT. Wth is that?

Is that normal to remove discounts from stuff you already have in your cart while continueing shopping? Needless to say I cancelled it all, not even gonna buy the game that wasn't on sale. Screw that, that's simply rude. Think anyone would accept that at retail? Heck at my go to store I usually get a bigger than listed discount as a valued repeat customer. Better discounts to begin with as well... Robinson was 30% off for ps+ for the low price of CAD 56, while it's standard 50 in shops since it came out lol.

This is just sort of one of the issues with online shopping. Can't expect them to create a system where the sale holds as long as the user has an item in the cart. That's just going to lead to abuse. Best bet is once you see discounts find out how long they last (that's what I always do). So you know just how long you have.

If you check it, Tuesday is already a day after what they said it would last, so they actually give you a 11 hours grace period to pay for it, before changing back the prices, you should be aware of that as you are putting discounted items in your cart with the sale date expiration time already over to begin with.

I agree that if it is in your cart and the sales end, they should have at an auto message warning the prices went back up, before you actually pay for them. But the way the handle it is pretty fair IMO, if you are doing it after the expiration time (aka early Tuesday) then you should be expecting this might happen, as the sale price should have already be back up.

I just saw it said expires 2-7, so I figured that means the 7th is included. Plus it was there when I added it. I didn't notice the 8:00 am PT at first, just wrongly assumed it would be midnight. Nor do I live in PT btw. I started browsing at 10:45 am, cart messed up shortly after 11:00 am. It's just not very consumer friendly to handle it this way without any notice.

For example Amazon and Steam have a timer next to deals. Amazon also has a lowest price guarantee on pre-orders and even refunds me if the price drops shortly after I've bought something. Steam has this wickedly advanded wishlist and mails me when something on my list is on sale. It wouldn't hurt Sony to bring their store into the 2010's. Anyway noted for future use.

Btw there are some weird ps+ freebies this month. LBP3 is nice but already have it. Not a hero, Starwhal, Ninja Senki DX and ToqueL, never heard of those. I'm back to DriveClub VR after completing another nightmare run in RE7.

Hmm interesting, I haven't been in that situation before. For me, it's usually I either get the deal well on time, or I just forget about it completely and don't get it at all =p
