If you look at Operating Profit, it is true.

And if you look at net-profit.... well why the hell are you comparing Net-Profit to Operating-Profit, when you can compare Operating Profit to... Operating Profit. There isn't a "Net-Profit" for Sony's game divison so there's a much more applicable and sensible comparison to be made.

Edit: Sorry, the whole games divison is true, PSN alone isn't.

But anyway the title says "brings in money" which is revenue. I don't see a problem with the title.

PlayStation makes more profit than Nintendo, PSN on it's own does not.

 

The thread title basically just means, People spend more money on PSN then they spend on all of Nintendo's Products Combined.

When people see "more money" they immediately think earned more money, and thats not true, but it true that Nintendo made 3x more money than whole Sony company. :D

Yep, just as it's true that PlayStation outperformed Nintendo again. :D

Sony has a lot of problems to fix that are dragging it down.

It not relly hard to otupform Nintendo again, Wii U is their worst selling console ever and its dead for time quite now while 3DS is in its 6. year on market, it will be intresting to see next FY with Switch on market. But Nintendo like that having 3x bigger profit than whole Sony company is definitely very interesting. :)

You're doing the exact same thing that you're complaining about the title/OP doing. The title is correct (kind of), Sony's network division did bring in more money than the whole of Nintendo, just like what you are saying about Nintendo's overall profit being superior to that of Sony's.

But what you are saying means just as little as what the title is saying, unless you look at the details in both cases. And FYI looking at the details and how it affects other things is pretty much the definition of looking at the whole picture...

Sony's Gaming Division Operating Profit - $431m

Could over $277.6m of the $431m figure be from PSN? Considering the amount of PS+ subscribers and the increase in digital sales it's certainly a possibility.

New features? They added streaming, but that's done by Twitch and YouTube. We have a Facebook-like newsfeed, increased online storage and that's pretty much it. Ok, remote play/shareplay is on them, so it's really a new thing.

I get that you're putting a counterpoint to the OP and that makes sense, it's certainly not a wrong point either. But with some of your comments it doesn't half feel like you're trying to pretend other factors don't exist just to try and make a kind of "look, Nintendo won!" post rather than merely informing people that there's more to it than what is shown in the OP.

I wrote what I had, and I explained to you whats my point, you can take that like ever you want.

Imagine I make thread, "Nintendo made 3x more profit than whole Sony company", you can bet we would have lotsa explanations there. :D

Why are you comparing Net Profit to Operating Profit rather than Operating profit to Operating Profit?

There is no "Net-Profit" for Sony's gaming divison, so logically if you want to make a comparison use Operating Profit for both. Unless you're cherry picking. It's silly to compare two different types of figures when you have two of the same.
