Forums - Sony - GamePro hands-on with Metal Gear Solid 4: "It's spectacular"

I think it will be amazing but you do have to keep in mind that previews are generally more positive than reviews. Still I expect this game to be around 93% on GR in the end.

I don't understand why so many of you are wowed. No real gamer should find this at all surprising its Kojimas master piece people. How could any one be foolish enough to expect anything less other then sheer uncompromising greatness.

LOL StanGable I see sarcams in ur post

The MetalGear-RAY level on MGS2 was just TOO bad, these "things" are complete bullshit compared to MG-REX, u kill them too easly. Remember at the beginning of MGS2, there is 1 MG-RAY destroying a militar boat : why are u able to kill them so easly ?????????

The virus weakened them, it has the same effect as fox die.

(I just cant figure out why snake is old in MGS4? I just started MGS3, and found out its in the past, does the game ever head to the presenT?)

Nope it is all in the past.  I hope you're playing the subsistence version, the 3rd person camera makes the game so much better.

Snake in MGS3 is not the same Snake as the one in MGS1/2.  It's Big Boss, the main antagonist in Metal Gear 1 and 2 for the MSX.  It's a great way of giving some backstory and some reasoning for Big Bosses actions in those games.  And the story about The Boss is unbelievable.  It's relatively more straightforward story than the one presented in MGS1/2 (especially MGS2).

And no, the game doesn't head to the present.  It's all about the original Snake aka Big Boss.

sounds good.

i have a question for mgs2 substance though. where do you find the bombs when your playing as raiden?

everyone knows that Gamespot, IGN, and 1Up are all over Sony's nuts so no surprise they made such claims.

IGN is usually pretty good and consistent across platforms, still IMO too harsh with regard to Lair and Super Rub'a'Dub, but maybe US motion controllers were flawed for some reason.

I have seen a lot of anti-Sony from Gamespot though, some of the lowest scores for PS2/PS3/PSP exclusives and non-consistent game criticism in comparison to XBox/XBox 360 console exclusive games (Gears of War score 9.6 / Halo 3 score 9.5 despite of claiming R&C (score 7.5) and Uncharted (score 8.0) have weak story elements significantly dragging down the score (WOW! How to emphasize your bias!), Oblivion scored better on the 360 despite the PS3 version being undisputably superior, etc, I think both versions would have scored lower if the game would have been released on the PS3 first, unless the 360 would have been equally superior as the PS3 version is over the 360 version).

IMO Gamespot has been biased ever since the original XBox launched.

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

PS3 vs 360 sales
