Well, they are killing the Wii U the same day the Switch comes out (they said BOTW is the last game) so...

Switch is somewhat expensive, relatively large and has a mediocre battery life for a handheld device, that is why it is currently being labeled as primarily a home console. 3DS is cheap, still sells decently and is still being supported.

It is highly probable that 1.5-2 years from launch there will be a cheaper & smaller remodel with better battery life. By that time sales and support for 3DS will be minimal and Switch Lite will become the 3DS successor.
