News based on assumptions forces people to arrive at the wrong conclusion. No one benefits from this.

News based on news, with interpretive commentary over it to make it paletable for people who aren't tech-heads. Haven't seen any instance of a "wrong conslusion" drawn thus far.

And how many potential Switch consumers have said they are not buying the system now because of what Digital Foundry said. They came to a new conclusion based on assumptions made by Digital Foundry.

Hey! They got SONY on my amiibo! Wait a minute. Two great gaming tastes that game great together!

99.99% of the people who will buy the Switch, whether it sells 10m or 100m, will have never heard of Digital Foundry.

I thought we've been doing the same thing with emily rogers rumors in this site

So you agree then. People that were never exposed to Digital Foundry's assumptions will buy the Switch. And those who were exposed to the assumptions changed their minds. I think this is the first time we have ever agreed on anything.

They aren't being negative, they're reporting on news and giving their expert opinion on what that news most likely means. You can't blame them for underwhelming news.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

News should be based on facts, not on what is most likely. It's not only Digital Foundry's reputation at risk but also the future of the systems they assume are underpowered. Digital Foundry has admitted they receive information from people who are obviously breaking NDA's. They should be held just as liable as those people who are breaking those NDA's.

Hmm, I'd say that if people do choose not to buy the Switch due to the rumoured specs, I'd say that the fault lies more with the consumer. If they are choosing to apply a constraint of "Switch must be X powerful in order for me to buy it", that's their choice. If DF is wrong and it's more powerful than what they detailed in their leak, then the consumer has the option to revise their pre-emptive conclusion.

The news is based on facts. Digital Foundry clearly states what part of there articles/videos is the information they've recieved, and what part of there content is what they believe to be the case.

Bold: Are you serious? Are you really suggesting that it should be illegal to report leaked video game console specs? That's insane...

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure the Pro and Scorpio could both do "true 4k" if they would scale back on the graphics front. Maybe go for art style to make your game look great?

Just a thought.

Its not the consumers fault if they were misinformed. Its Digital Foundry's fault for providing false information.
