Digital Foundry is loosing a lot of credibility in my opinion. They are referring to phrases in an old document and making the assumption that they know what the Scorpio's specs are. Seriously they should just wait untill they have actual proof before they say anything. They made a lot of assumptions with the Switch's specs too. Whenever I see anything Digital Foundry says from now on I will get the salt shaker out.

To be fair, Digital Foundry also tells us when they are making an assumption... But also tells us why they are making that assumption. (Like with regards to the CPU in Scorpio.)
They are still one of the best sources of console technology information on the internet and their scientific approach to pixel and framerate counting is fantastic.

If they want to keep their credibility they should stop making assumptions altogether. If they keep this up they will be known as Digital Floundery.

Hey! They got SONY on my amiibo! Wait a minute. Two great gaming tastes that game great together!

Fair enough. We will have to agree to disagree. :P

I'm happy that they make the distinction between an assumption and fact in their videos and write-ups, not all outlets do such a thing.

The thing that bothers me is when Digital Foundry makes system spec assumptions before the actual specs are known. Through misinformation they are causing damage to a system's image and turning potential customers away. They are helping no one with these practices and damaging their own reputation. But I guess they get a lot of clicks by doing it.

News based on assumptions forces people to arrive at the wrong conclusion. No one benefits from this.

The fault would be on the companies designing the products and not managing the information safety. Besides allowing rumors to go for over a year before product release. DF isn't at falt here

And what good do you think MS could get for leaking that they have Project Scorpio so ahead of time? And all that talk about the leak of X1 being wrong as well.

And about no true native 4k, you could have asked pema about the GPU itself already not being enough for true 4k, you don't need the other assumptions to define it.

So your saying the people breaking NDA's are the ones to blame?

News based on news, with interpretive commentary over it to make it paletable for people who aren't tech-heads. Haven't seen any instance of a "wrong conslusion" drawn thus far.

I think they can be damaging. To be honest, look at most of their recent videos. The seem Sony focused. I don't want to say pro Sony, but definitely Sony focused. The bad part about the Scorpio leak, is that it is not a leak. It is from a white sheet freely available on Microsoft's developer site that is from July 2016. Let me say that again, July 2016. Anybody that has watched the video should be able to clearly see they are guessing at everything, but one thing. The ESRAM being gone from Scorpio is the only 100% factual thing from the white sheet. I like it when they perform analysis, but the theory videos on Switch and Scorpio are damaging.
