Forums - Gaming - Digital Foundry has a new product.

Because of the latest Digital Foundry spec leak of the Scorpio hinting that its not true 4K.

Digital Foundry has been a kill joy lately. First with their unfavorable spec leak of the Nintendo Switch. Now they are leaking info that could potentially damage Xbox Scorpio. Are they going too far with these spec leaks?

The Nintendo Switch spec leak is here: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2016-nintendo-switch-spec-analysis

The Xbox Scorpio spec leak is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9zIvjH3S54

This thread is meant to be a discussion about Digital Foundry and the potential damage they may cause with these spec leaks. Please stay on topic and don't turn this into a console war. Thanks.

least you could have done is provide links to the article or video.... would have done so, but this thread lloks more like flamebait than something made for constructive discussion.

Thanks for re-opening the thread CGI. If you see this turn into a flame war feel free to snuff it out for good.

No opinions anyone? I know some people say specs dont matter to them, but there is still that nagging impression that a product is sub-par because of lower specs. Its a subconscious thing.

But they are making a lot of assumptions with their information. They do not have clear proof the Scorpio will not do 4K native. This is unsubstantiated information that could potentially damage the Scorpio.

Perhaps DF is doing them a favor, bringing expectations back down to Earth so Switch and Scorpio don't turn into the next No Man's Sky ;)

But true, we live in a world of alternative facts nowadays. DF are spoil-sports.

I think what Digital Foundry is doing is fantastic and they take a fairly neutral approach to it all with an emphasis on accurate sourced technical information worded in such a way as to be more appealing to those who are not tech-orientated.
It's also re-aligning people's expectations so that products are not overhyped in terms of capabilities.

Digital Foundry is loosing a lot of credibility in my opinion. They are referring to phrases in an old document and making the assumption that they know what the Scorpio's specs are. Seriously they should just wait untill they have actual proof before they say anything. They made a lot of assumptions with the Switch's specs too. Whenever I see anything Digital Foundry says from now on I will get the salt shaker out.

To be fair, Digital Foundry also tells us when they are making an assumption... But also tells us why they are making that assumption. (Like with regards to the CPU in Scorpio.)
They are still one of the best sources of console technology information on the internet and their scientific approach to pixel and framerate counting is fantastic.
